Kind of off topic but I wanted to share that its been 12 & 18 months since I had total knee replacement and I couldn't be happier about the benefits. Had done one at a time 6 months apart, wanted to do both at once but my Doc didnt do doubles anymore, too many issues, I guess.
For a few years I could hardly get around the arthritic pain was so bad, so I probably should have done them much sooner.
I was a compulsive runner for years and never rested knees enough but genetics was part of it as well.
I can now walk a couple miles every morning, zero arthritic pain and feel years younger.
Just wanted to share my experience with this as I know there are many boomers with bad knee's.

So far I’ve been able to hold off on a left knee (2 torn meniscus’s and severe arthritis) by losing some weight and investing in quality shoes. That’s enabled me to walk 3-5 miles daily with only minor discomfort but the day will likely come when I have to get it done. And of course arthritis in the right knee is starting to demand attention also......but I’m glad you had a positive experience. It helps reassure those of us who are staring down the same gun barrel......

I’ve got two things that push me out the door.....Catholic guilt and a wife who revels in exploiting that.......

    Happy for you feeling better!

On a side note, I have a feeling my wife will somehow be mentioned in the thread.

My dad can barely walk but they won’t give him new knees until he loses weight. It’s really a catch 22 for him since he can barely walk it’s hard for him to lose weight. He does need to have a better diet though.

and I’m a stick but starting to get arthritis already smh

My knees are jacked up, but I'm not ready for the replacement thing yet.

I had both rotator cuffs and both feet in surgeries.

I did. The surgeons are the most important element. The cuffs were done by the same man. The feet had nerves removed and that was the option I chose. My brother who is 78, had delicate spine surgery twice and his luck was not good. My sister in law had water on the brain and she had some success. Both were married in '68.

I had hernia surgery a few years back and it has limited my physical abilities since...I can't hold a leaf blower up for long blowing leaves off my roof....split wood for long...stand on ladders for more than a couple minutes...upside is my bladder is stronger and things are stitched into place where they should be. Choices. I had to give up tennis to save my knees and bicycling...running...now I'm a power walker and hiker only...no more pounding the pavement for this old geezer...I'm like my little red truck ...still start up and move but just take it easy on me if you want me to make it another couple of decades
