I want to hear from those that think they'd be a better GM than Olshey and tell me what would it take for a team to acquire Dame? Im not advocating it at all, just curious about the type of player and or picks you'd give up to improve the team, as an arm chair GM?
In all honestly there isn’t a deal out there that would be good enough for me to give away the man who had given everything to the franchise. I would only trade him if he demanded one. In that case I would want a super star in return. So Lebron, KD, AD, Jokic, Giannis, Doncic, Kawhi, Curry, or Tatum. They would be guy I would want. I could also take Butler and Bam, Young, Collins, and picks, morant, Jackson, and picks. Booker and picks would be good too.
Thanks, I wouldn't trade him either unless he requested, Im just trying to get put my head around his asset value as compared to other players. Giannis I would think would be a fair asset comparison.
If I were a GM, when it came to Dame, I know that I'd be like Olshey is with far too many of our players, especially the ones he drafted and I'd have a hard time making a good basketball decision. Any good GM would take Giannis or AD in a heartbeat. They'd probably take Tatum. Especially with CJ here they'd take Docic. With the way Embiid has looked it might even be dumb to turn him down. Obviously all of those trades besides Luca would require another trade. Nurk in the cases of Giannis, AD, and Embiid or a forward in the case of Tatum, to get a legit backup PG with possible draft assets. The reason why AD and Giannis are such no brainers is because they're both better than Dame and younger. The other guys' future floors are as good as Dame is now and they're younger. Those are hard things for a good GM to turn down.
I guess the reason that we are resorting to fantasy speculation is because it's heartbreaking to come up with good trade scenarios every year and see Olshey do little?
Not fantasizing at all, tell me what Dames comp is? He's an asset that has a certain amount of value in the league.
I didn't mean that as a direct response to your post. It's just a little bit odd that no one seems to be interested in discussing real trade possibilities anymore.
OK. Ball is averaging about .370 on threes the last two years. A tall young PG who can play decent defense. Why would NO do this?
How about CJ McCollum plus either Giles or Melo for Ball, Reddick and Hayes. http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=y3uxdv4j
The great thing about one year contracts is they can be bought out or just waived. So you'd never have to give up a pick to get rid of Melo. You just tell him, "Good luck and it was nice knowing you." I do think that may leave hole in our roster but the point is that you want him gone... he can just be gone.
Ball would be the only guy on the roster that’s pass-first and a good defender. He’d fill the Nic Batum role instantly.
I would do that. It puts a good backup behind Dame, I think we'd have Reddick and Gary split time at SG. That would be a lot of back court depth. Reddick's contract gives us some cap room in the off season that can be used, if we want, on all of the RFAs we would have at that point. I am really high on Hayes. Now @BonesJones would point out that this trade doesn't give us a second guy (next to Dame) that can create offense/get his own shot and he'd be right. I do think there might be better trades out there for CJ.
I understand that. I also know they won't do that. On a personal level, I am willing to give up assets so I don't have to watch him anymore.
