Blake Griffin- buyout candidate

Have not watched him in a while. How much have the injuries diminished his athleticism? He is not a good enough outside shooter to offset any lack of defensive and rebounding. Can he still attack the basket? Right now I guess if you move Covington to the 3 and let Melo and Blake man the 4 spot it could work. But most of his success was based on his athletic ability, if that's diminished then he becomes just another role player. How much would we have to pay him?

obviously we'd want him as a buyout candidate, even if Terry would give him the Melo treatment. his game has fallen off a cliff.

i'd think Brooklyn and Boston would also be in pursuit of him were he to clear waivers.

He really cannot move anymore. I think he cannot even dunk if he is alone with the basket. He is messed up.

No one will trade for him. He is completely hobbled by his knee injuries. Hasn't dunked in years. If he is bought out, you can expect Neil to bring him in for cheap.

Griffin's major asset at the moment is his passing ability. Also he's become a fairly decent three point shooter. I shudder to imagine a lineup that features him and Carmelo at the same time, though.

I haven't watched him this year, thought I read somewhere he hasn't dunked in over a year, which speaks to his lost athleticism. I'd be intrigued, but can't imagine he provides a whole lot more than Carmelo does, so why bother?

If he gets bought out, do you sign him? Better yet, does Olshey?
We can't sign a veteran with that many years of experience to the vet min and stay under the luxury tax threshold, which has been a major priority for this team this season considering the looming repeater tax if we do go into the luxury tax. We haven't done it despite all of our injuries to fill our last roster spot and we definitely won't do it for the shell of his all-star self that Blake Griffin has become.

pretty sure number of years only affects the amount he gets paid, not the amount that counts toward the caps.

It might be vet minimum, but would be pro-rata for the remainder of the season, wouldn't it? Would that keep us under the cap?

Yeah, you're right. I still wouldn't want him.

I posted a tweet on here somewhere last week that he hasn't dunked since 2019.

I think he'd be a great P&R partner with his superior passing off the short roll.

That has disaster written all over it. Melo at 36 still helps. Blake at 32...I can't see it if he can't move. Besides Covington and Melo, I would rather divide those minutes to a young player with lots of energy. (Little and Jones)

What a disaster trade for Detroit. As I recall many Blazer fans applauded the risk Detroit took.

So would you rather have Kevin Love or Blake Griffin at this point?

I remember people saying Batum was washed up too. A winning (or losing) environment can have a major impact.
