No but i think opening up the government to film anything can quickly lead to cameras on every corner everywhere. Its fickle.

Ive got to go. Wife getting annoyed im not putting my phone down. :)

There is nothing preventing them from taking video footage in public. It's perfectly legal.

Should we fund a city wide cctv network? No, I wouldn't support that. But filming large gatherings of people in public spaces seems fairly harmless.

Right. But as you say, they use the protests as cover. So no protests, likely no excessive vandalism.

I think a pack of cannibals roaming the streets could put a quick end to the vandalism problem.

Was the most racist. You'd be surprised at how my Asian wife is treated around here. I've met four of our immediate neighbors and they love her. Right now, we've got a neighbor who lives kitty corner from us who spent all day cutting up fallen tree limbs that came down in our yard during the ice storm. Now, they've volunteered to take down and dispose of three limbs dangling up in our trees. And the other neighbors came to our door two days ago to take us on a fishing trip. The neighbors on our other side are Mormons and retired school teachers. They seem to love my wife. Everyone in our church comes up to us and adores my wife who is really friendly. We have never had a shred of problem in the five years we've recently lived here.
When I grew up here in the 50s Oswego was extremely racist but not anymore and that's a fact. Are there some bad eggs here? Yes, I've heard of a very few but we've never encountered them.

The FBI are catching a lot of the Capitol building vandals using surveillance cameras.

Good for you but personally I just can't stomach the thought of eating bits of chicken from parts unknown. And can't stand white meat chicken unless it is cooked medium rare and juicy.

In the United Kingdom they had to put up cameras everywhere to prevent terrorist acts.

Sure poverty breeds crime. But do we just give whatever to people throwing tantrums because they dont have what others have?

for every hard working poverty stricken individual, there is a lazy oar who wants to do nothing but have things handed to them.
This is why i dont think a universal problem solves anything and it should be a case by case basis, who gets/deserves help and who doesnt.
I get my opinion is not for everyone though. :)

We should support policy proven to reduce poverty if we want to reduce crime. That is the most efficient and effective way to prevent crime and suffering. Most of the Nordic and Scandinavian countries have it pretty well figured out. Their populations are generally very happy with low crime rates while remaining highly productive.

If there are a lot of lazy people in our society it is largely because we are not offering them sufficient motivation.

Ive always been a self motivated person, so its harder for me to understand why some people require an external source to motivate them.

You are still motivated differently by society. Maybe it works for you. But the problems we have show that it doesn't work for many many people. It's gotten to the point that even very motivated people still wind up poor. You almost have to get lucky or break the law to become well off in America.

It's quite literally rigged against poor people here.

Self motivation and confidence is often a learned trait. Sometimes, based on how someone was raised or events in life they can either lose or have no experience in using those traits.

Sounds like you might be great in a Big Brother/Big Sister program showing others the confidence and motivation required for a better life.

I was a part of outdoor school im highschool. A counsellor for five sessions.
The biggest problem i found was the parental traits passed down. very delicate situation to discuss with youth, how their parents are not adequately prepRing them for the world.

based on affirmative action and other things created to help provide equality, i think thats a somewhat biased take.

there will always be rich and poor. There will never be an equal income across the board for all. Supply and demand alone proves this.

And yes there is supply and demand in the workforce as well.

i know some people want to take money from the rich and redistribute. without breaking down every dollar and why, I'm opposed to this in a general sense. Some people have 100% right to do with what they want of the money they have made for themselves.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
No one's calling for equal incomes for everyone. Just a narrower divide between rich and poor; a higher floor, especially, for what "poverty" means--especially in a society as overall wealthy as this one.
