    Hello darkness, my old friend
If what you say is irrelevant to the topic at hand, that's my opinion and perfectly valid for me to say. You get to post what you want (within the rules) and I get to post what I want (within the rules). Saying that your screed blaming the President for the Senate's actions is irrelevant is well within the rules and well within the bounds of logic.

The reason you don't "debate" with people is because you struggle with handling disagreeing opinions.

After seeing that video, I came out with this conclusion. This is why we, as the target audience, can select truth instead of drinking in their profits. The presidential and political poll inaccuracies helped me understand that bias is in everything. We don't have to believe anything they say.

Minstrel, although I am sympathetic with Road Ratt's aspiration, sadly you are correct. Let me be clear that I'd love to see a $22 minimum wage but even $15 ain't gonna happen. It's got no Republicans and lacks about 6 or 7 Democrats in the Senate from passing. Schumer and Biden did the math and did the only thing they could if they wanted to keep the relief package alive.

I did keep it relevant to the topic at hand. I said what you posted was irrelevant to issue of the minimum wage proposal for pending legislation. I didn't say anything about you personally.

As noted above, we'll have to agree to disagree.

Oh, believe me, I'm sad to be correct too. I'd love to see the federal minimum wage increased to $15. It disappoints me that they don't have sufficient votes to pass it; that's the curse or other side of the coin of winning Senate elections in conservative states-- you get conservative Democrats who can't be counted on to help with more progressive proposals. It's still better than a Republican in those seats, but it causes disappointment at times like these.

Conservative Democrats in surprise 2008 Senate wins also tanked the public option that Obama wanted in the ACA (Obamacare). On the other hand, without those conservative Democrats (if Republicans had won the seats), the ACA would never have happened at all.

Nobody likes a condescending attitude. My wife particularly hates it. However, I didn't see his response as being intended to be condescending. I've crossed paths with Minstrel once or twice myself but it was because of a view that I thought was not as correct as it could be and not because I thought he was being condescending with me.

To be clear, I don't see "That's irrelevant to the point," to be condescension, simply an observation based in opinion. If anyone wants to tell me something I said is irrelevant, and why, I won't take it amiss.

    Your first statement is correct.
I knew an asshole that used to disagree with everything I said and a lot of others thought he was very disagreeable. He used to say we'll have to agree to disagree and I hated that response. I guess that ever since I've disliked that response. Maybe it was because that asshole caused me a lot of grief.

Ha. Not trying to cause anyone grief. "Agree to disagree" is simply my way of saying that while I definitely don't agree, we probably should move on because we've reached impasse.

I know, it's just the bad taste in my mouth that jerk left with me. I thought you handled that very well. We can disagree with a post but never the poster.

Really nice having adults in the office again. Dislike Biden, Dems, whatever. Trump had some idiotic and unreasonable policies. Trump's tariffs were stupid and bad business, and in most cases, hurt Americans and consumers more than those they are allegedly directed at. At a time we could not afford them. The current administration is far more reasonable and cares more about the average American consumer.

Your European spirits, beer, and wine just got some relief. Same with lots of other food products and consumer goods. Prices will come down a bit.

So fire the parliamentarian and force Dems to vote against it.

I wasn't actually referring to the parliamentarian...I was actually speaking to a more fundamental level, that Democrats don't have 50 votes to pass a bill with a $15 minimum wage, even if the parliamentarian signed off. I thought the issue boiled down to just Manchin and Sinema, but I heard today that Bernie Sanders' proposed amendment to add the $15 minimum wage was voted against by, I think, 6 Democrats.

This is extremely disappointing to me, but I don't really see how it's Joe Biden's fault. It would be his fault if he lobbied against it or refused to sign a bill that reached him. This is an issue (which I mentioned during the primaries) of the median Senator being more conservative than all the major Democratic candidates (I don't count Bloomberg as a "major" candidate, as I never thought he had a hope of winning the nomination). This is why, while I preferred Sanders to Biden, I didn't actually think which of the two won mattered a great deal in terms of passed legislation. Sure, Sanders would be much more progressive in his beliefs--that just means that much more progressive priorities would die on the Senate floor. If you can't pass even a complete Biden agenda, what's the point of a Sanders agenda? (The answer, IMO, is that there's still value in having a President arguing for those things with the pulpit of the position, which is why I did prefer Sanders as President.)

He understood tariffs so little that he thought that tariffs on Chinese products were paid by the Chinese. Idiot.
