With CJ, we have two guards with a Top 7 PER in the entire NBA. How often does that happen if ever?

We didn't though. If you remember Dame was deferring far too much to CJ because CJ was so hot but because we didn't have Dame going we lost some games we should have won. Maybe Dame and CJ can find a balance and maybe CJ comes back and plays as well as he was because he was playing well but two ball dominant guards, have to kind of trade off.

That is unless one of them wants to become a Reggie Miller type. I just haven't seen either of our guys want to do that. So this stuff with siting CJs averages and shit like that, just is not accurate. He was only going for twelve games and Dame had a slow start probably because of it. @BonesJones thinks another coach could get these guys to play synergistic basketball but we haven't seen it thus far under Stotts. So your numbers are out of context.

But I always love your positivity. Keep it up.

Mike Conley has been named an All-Star as a replacement for Devin Booker. It’s the latest that anyone has ever been named a first time all-star this late into their career.

I’m happy for him after he’s been snubbed countless times.

not discounting that it's nice he made it, but snubbed countless times?

    2009 - 2020 lol

You don’t think he’s been in the conversation as an All-Star a single year of his career? From what I recall, he was usually discussed as a snub or someone who barely didn’t make it. He’s kind of like CJ in the fact that he puts up good numbers on teams that are usually pretty good but it’s not enough to put him ahead of the rest of the field.

IIRC, about 10 games into the season, Dame had a PER under 20 and a TS% around .550. Dame was deferring and it wasn't making Portland a better team. In the first 12 games, Dame had 2 double-digit FT games. In the next 12 games he had 6

Yup. Really isn't an obvious argument to be made for him.

There just happened to be 4-5 guards better than him every year out west unfortunately, even in his great years (12-13, 13-14, 18-19 stand out).

Being more of defensive guard didn't help in this regard either.

Read my reply to you again. Not necessarily saying he deserved it more, but he was right there toward the top of the “next in line” list.

Julius is right. Conley has never been snubbed. He has just slowly improved over the years.

But I understand, Sheed. I like to use the word, too. It's fun to say aloud. It's the opposite of "albeit." Yuck.

That's not how snubs work. "Snubs" are players who deserved to make it, regardless of who they did or didn't beat out.

You must define "deserved to make it" as "deserved to have the all-star team size enlarged."

I would disagree that Conley "deserved" to make it. He's never put up big numbers, his PER hasn't been off the charts, and his averages don't scream "all star".

Dame and CJ both had Top 10 PER and Dame was still leading team in scoring when CJ got hurt. Their synergy got us to WCF! Dame closed deal vs OKC. CJ closed deal vs Denver. How’s that for synergy?

Quoting false and misleading stats makes me feel like you don't watch the games, which I know you do. Don't you see the ball stalling with CJ when he has wide open threes? Don't you see how there are many plays when possibly the best player in the game is completely out of the play because MeJ is doing his thing? Dame is probably the best pick and roll player in the game and one of the best iso guys. CJ just isn't and Dame treats him like he is.

Don't give me CJ's PER when he was going supernova for 12 games and Dame's when he hasn't had to play with CJ for 65.7% of his games. Also through the 12 games that CJ wasn't hurt Dame averaged 26.9 ppg and CJ averaged 27.6 ppg. That's not a huge difference and maybe you'll want to say, "see that's synergy" but it just shows that you're willing to make shit up to try and prove a point that should be plain as day by now.

They step on each other on offense and are horrendous together on defense. That's not a combination that I want the team spending 74 million dollars on next season and giving the most minutes to.

That could be said of many players who excel on the defensive end. Unless they're a MVP candidate, their offensive numbers are going to be more pedestrian than other all-stars.
