China? I thought we were talking about a former Blazer who called someone a slur during his live stream today. Are we now talking about the business of the NBA? It’s not faux outrage. He’s a dumbass who said a word that a lot of people find offensive, then gave a (literally) predictable bullshit apology. Which no one fell for. Except one of us.
I've felt bad for Meyers a few times over the years and for some of his tough youth, but I don't feel sorry for him getting shit canned and maybe being out of the league for this. What a terrible and stupid thing to say on a live stream/at all.
Oh then what’s the big deal. crnjo only heard it once in a movie. We should let the Miami Heat and ESPN and Twitter know to get over it.
What game was he playing? Is the game he was playing full of racism or insensitivity? Im an old dude that doesn't keep up on some of the video being played, but when my kids were young 25 years ago or so some of the stuff they wanted to play or their friends was pretty raunchy. Even some musicians and actors get raunchy with racist remarks. I dont think Meyers is a racist but I do think he gets to hyped up and reckless and what he said was very insensitive and I hope he feels convicted and learns.
I'm not saying it's right but f*g was a pretty commonly used word in a world that was pretty anti-gay. I'm sure most of us who are older used it at some point in their vocabulary. As the world changed most people stopped saying it. Same now with the word jip, which I still find myself saying occasionally even though I try hard not to. When I was younger it was also pretty common to use the word j3w to describe a cheapskate, again people have for the most part tried to stop using it. Also, bitch and pussy are somewhat frowned upon too. The word Meyers used and the N word (not comparing the two) are worse in that they wouldn't just slip because it used to be a socially accepted word. I don't buy for a second Meyers didn't know what it meant because he used it as an insult. You wouldn't just randomly use that word in the middle of a game if it wasn't a word that was part of your normal vocabulary.
and I guess others get to stand up and show how they enjoy hearing bigoted banter to remind them of the good old days? Fuck outta here.
Im Irish as they get and I remember mick being used all the time. Id rather have someone call me a Mick than a Nazi.
I'm always amused by how these topics bring out the people who wouldn't normally display bigotry but get their white resentment out by vigorously defending bigots as victims of political correctness.
