Don't feel bad. I had to look it up. But i have heard it (cannot remember where) . Just don't know anyone who has ever used it.

Way wrong to use derogatory words or statements, its doesn't help or lift anyone up at all.
It's possible he was naive in using the word but at his age he needs to be responsible either way.

When people of any age are compulsive with games, movies, politics (lol) that spread hate its going to effect them in some way, or act things out. When I listened to him on that video I was amazed at all hyped up he was and disappointed big time.
What game was it he was playing?

It was not superlikely that Meyers was going to earn another contract anyway. His contract next year is not guaranteed. He'll be cut at the end of the season (not traded, even though his expiring contract is a decent trade piece, but because Miami has intentionally created cap space to make a run at an FA). A year from now, we'll be in the throes of March Madness, and most non-Portland, non-Heat nba fans will have forgotten about him completely.

One of he sad parts of the whole thing is that he'll never be invited back by any team, even as some sort of celebration of team history, he's done. He was a scapegoat in Portland, and now that stain will be permanent.

I still like Meyers. As long as he's playing for another team, of course. I still very much believe he is a good person. Yes, he is an idiot. But, he's always been that...

Not so sure about that? Like i said above. People have very short memories and they also are willing, if the person is worthy, to give second chances.
He has 4-6 more years left in the tank easy. Vets minimum is cheap for a backup big that can shoot. Distant memory in 4-6 months. Even more so if he does a class and contributes in some way (Anything for money right).
I don't feel Meyers is completely done just yet. Right team in the right area and he is back in business. He will do whatever they ask. $2.3-2.5 million is worth it. Remember there are NBA teams all over the country. States that might be more forgiving than others.

The thing here with Meyers is that out of ALL the players in the NBA

I’m not surprised AT ALL Meyers is the one who said some silly stuff

    standing vs kneeling
Writing an article as to why
Racial conversations with his teammates on why he is all lives matter or whatever

Which is interesting because on his team he has Tyler Herro who would def get an invite to the cookout

    Riley Cooper NBA edition

Look at how many NBA players that have come back from bad situations. The only things is nowadays people are quick to cancel or excommunicate. And in some cases it eats its own.

Not saying you are wrong at all. I just think he will work hard to get back and they will eventually call it a stupid move and move on.

When i was in gradeschool i was at a school kids house paying after school. His neighbor(asian) left as i was entering.
As he let me in he said some slurs(i will never forget)

i didnt get it at the time, but it always stuck with me and years later I realized how bad it was.

Thankfully, i never repeated it in the same manner ignorantly.

I might have it wrong, but I believe Crandc is Jewish and she's spoken about this. I think she was insulted by both words he used.

I think white people are just fine, aside from being a bit bland without the proper seasoning.

Meyers Leonard moves to another team 3000 miles away (and one and a half seasons ago) and yet he still has an innate (and incredibly impressive) ability to trigger a fairly large segment of SC2. Shitty career statistics aside, the guy was always a doofus, no matter how you sliced it. And this stupid comment should not be any real surprise. Seems like his wife always drove the bus, and apparently if she’s not around to ride herd on him he’s even more of a loose cannon. Personally I’m just glad he’s not our problem anymore.......

...also wondering how this will impact her granola bar business. I suppose they may lose orders initially but if the spin and messaging is right, then I could see even more support for them as a whole. Maybe. Because the internet on its own is relentless so thelat business could be finished too. The cute little viral marketing they used might not be received in the same light now.

the reality is this will all be forgotten within a month. At the end of the day, it’s still just a big dumb idiot playing a video game. In the grand scheme of things, whatever.

Meyers was stupid and at a minimum he was giving in to prejudice he carries around inside; he betrayed his better angels. I 'know' this because I'm white too, and nearing 70. And quite a ways back I realized that one of the legacies granted me as a white man is the legacy of bias and prejudice and bigotry that is woven into the American experience. One thing I've learned is that the process of "I know better than that now" never ends. At least it doesn't for anybody with a conscience and an ability to self-examine. Yeah, I guess that sounds too grandiose but I'm not a Hemingway or a Salinger

perhaps Meyers is going to pay too heavy a price for a mistake, especially if it was a one-off (unlikely). But playing in the NBA is a massive gift granted by the genetic lottery. It's a privilege built upon the random circumstances of conception and birth. If anybody should be mindful of that reality and the impact of prejudice, it's a white man in the NBA. Meyers will have made 60 million dollars playing in the NBA by the end of June. If he doesn't earn a single NBA dollar after that, it's on him, not anybody else.
