I didn’t go to either school. I appreciate them both for what they offer, sports-wise. Ducks obviously have a clearer and easier path to success, and I enjoy their successes, but I enjoy the underdog performances OSU offers. OSU Baseball has a foundation that UO can’t touch.
Lol you pull out the conference championships when I meant national. Congrats! I'm a track fan, but lets be real. I don't even like baseball but baseball, basketball and football are the three big sports in America.
While it would be cool to see us in, we probably get bounced in the first round anyways. We made the dance with Gary Payton ii only a few years ago btw. Have fun with your participation trophy by making the dance with no chance of winning it all.
Not that I care about this glorified pissing contest that Duck and Beaver fans always have when it comes to everything, I don't know if 2016 was "forever" ago. However, taking that one out, it WAS forever ago that they went (1990). A 26 year drought. But both teams have had long stretches of no appearances (Beavers 26 years, Ducks 34 years). Both have similar # of appearances (17 for the Beavers, 17 for the Ducks, I think...tho 3 seasons or more for the Beavers were disqualified, so I think the #'s might be different). Both have been to the final four twice, elite 8 about the same amount. Conference "regular season" champs go to the Beaves (15 to 8) but "tournament of champs" goes to Ducks 5-0. Total wins, OSU, 1763 vs 1692 (not sure how current that cut off date is). But OSU has 4 more seasons for their win totals, so that # might be much closer than that totals indicates. Though there are some seasons (I would guess for both) where they played a very limited schedule. It's actually pretty impressive that considering the Beavers have sucked ass for going on 30 years now, and they're still a top 25 team in total wins. Also I think they had 3 years of wins wiped out of their total. This fact I found funny. While OSU is top 23 in wins and UO is top 33, of the top 50 teams in win totals, both are dead last in winning %'s (OSU is 49th and UO is 50th). I remember that at one time OSU was top 5 in wins I think. Oh how the (relatively speaking) might have fallen. Point being, both schools had shitty years, both schools had really good stretches. Get over it.
It's not even close to baseball viewership all over asia...baseball rocks over there...as to tv audience...soccer rules that world wide.....baseball is awesome...track and field is boring as fuck to watch just like Nascar....running in circles against a clock.... Maybe the shot put and javelin toss or high jump is your thing....it doesn't have much of a global fanbase...sort of like figure skating ...it's a Duck thing. .I've bought plenty of tickets to Duck and Beaver basketball games or tickets to see the Ems....never once would I waste my time watching a track event....and for the record ...football sucks in my view...takes 25 minutes to run a 3 sec play that they have to stop and talk about twice before running....some guy in a booth calling plays to the quarterback's helmet mike....it's a sport for beer breaks...slow as mud. I am offered free tickets to Duck football games all the time and pass on them...just my 2 cents on sports comparisons. I remember a list of the greatest Oregonian athletes and strangely Steve Prefontaine wasn't on anyone's list but mine....the Olympian track star.....go figure Joey Harrington got more love from fans
LOL at beevur fans....insecurity squared break out the lunch pails...the blue collar guys ar here this thread wasn't made by a Duck fan. Duck fans don't make threads crowing about beating the beevurs in any sport. Duck fans make threads about winning Pac-12 championships or winning Rose Bowls or leading the conference in football recruiting. But it's the highlight of a beevur season when they beat the Ducks in anything.....thus this thread
speaking of championships, the Duck men won another NCAA indoor T&F championship today. And freshman Micah Willaims from Portland, won Oregon's first ever national 60M championship. Another Duck Fr, Emmanuel Ihemeje, won the triple jump with the 6th best NCAA TJ mark ever at 56'7.75
I'm an Oregon fan across the board...but anybody who thinks Duck fans aren't snarky about Beaver teams probably doesn't live in Lane County and hasn't got family and friends here.....I've seen complete meltdowns from Duck fans when the Ducks are winning 70-3 over a call on the field...really get furious....my son worked Autzen stadium security to pay for his AP history tour of the east coast.....was a Duck fan all his life but got a full scholarship to Oregon State.....visiting him there I came to really appreciate the small town vibe in Corvalis and how humble Pat Casey and Mike Riley were as people....Riley rode his bicycle to work and games...great guy. I'm a fan...also a fan of the Ems in Eugene....love minor league baseball...Duck fans are way more insufferable than Beaver fans in my experience...I was a big Ernie Kent fan and now Dana Altman fan but never Chip Kelley at all or Mike Bellotti
Oregon money isn't like Texas and SEC money, as you know. Oregon sure seems to win their fair share of Pac12 championships, wouldn't you agree? Beavs baseball program is legit, much better than Oregon's, I tip my cap to them. They don't have Oregon dominated in many other areas though.
in keeping with good-news-Saturday for the Ducks, the Lady Duck softball team boat-raced and run-ruled the Beavers, 14-6
Lol. We have three National championships out of baseball, football and basketball. How many do you have? Or are pac 12 championships more important than national titles in sports that matter?
Again, I'm nothing but complimentry of the Beavs baseball program, it was fantastic under Casey. Lumping baseball in with football and basketball seems silly as it's nowhere near the national draw as the big 2. Baseball is much closer to softball, volleyball, WBB, and T&F. I would rather win national titles than conference titles. I would also rather win conference titles than finish in the bottom half of the conference. I'm not a believer that all teams outside of the champion should be praised equally. To be consistently good is very much an accomplishment to hang your hat on; Beav baseball would be an example of that.
