I know this is a partisan issue. Democrats don’t care now about these children with Biden as President, and the GOP under Trump didn’t care then. Can’t we gets my peeps some TVs or some sort of entertainment, though? This is unacceptable.
The problem is that Trump left no means to take care of all these people and Biden needs time to build up accommodations for them all.
They better get a handle on a realistic immigration reform and the mess at the border. Im all for immigration just have a reason plan & execution with some governing. Everything depends on decent management.
Don’t make this humanitarian disaster a partisan issue. Nobody in this thread gives a shit as does nobody in DC other than to score political points. Two sides of the same coin and Thom Tillie doesn’t care other than for political reasons, too. That doesn’t mean this is at all acceptable.
What do you feel Biden should be doing that he isn't? Like, in concrete actions, not nebulous "care more" or "treat people with humanity" sentiments. I agree that what's happening on the Southern border is a humanitarian crisis, but you're acting like there's a straightforward solution that Biden and the Democrats aren't using because they don't give a shit. So, how would you handle it, given the resources that exist at the border?
Completely unacceptable!!! Build modern facilities if you’re going to invite people to the USA from their home countries.
The US congress has had years to come up with reform and nothing ever gets done. Unfortunately both sides use it for pgain so it wont get any better till there is a concerted by both parties to get creative and helpful. After all that what they are paid to do.
I have the same stance whether it was Trump or Biden. Don't let them in. Don't house them. Just send them back and let Mexico deal with them. If they get into the country, deport them immediately.
Corporate America is paying big money to our politicians to have an exploitable work force. A large portion of our economy is based on having this exploitable workforce.
These kids aren’t even social distancing during a pandemic that we all agree could wipe us all out if not eliminated. Why are they so close together!!!! It’s a Covid Super Spreader event with zero cleanliness. Ashamed of the USA.
As someone that lives at ground zero of this situation and teaches at a school that sits less than a mile from the border while also working at the local NBC station, the amount of political theater that surrounds this issue is downright sad. I agree that Dems cared all about this issue until a few months ago and now it's the Repubs that are concerned when a few months ago Trump was doing great things here, and oh yea don't forget that the centers holding the families was actually worse under Obama according to people I know that have been in the centers then under DT. But that narrative doesn't get people to watch news shows or click on links. The honest answer is there is no easy answer. I've done reports from the Rio Grande where a guy literally walked across the river from Mexico to the US while we were standing there with a camera. Personally I understand that I was born with an amazing lottery ticket to be in the United States and I wish there was a way for everyone that wants to come here to be able to but our country can't just have open doors. This is an issue that is decades in the making and I don't blame Biden but at some point this needs to be dealt with and to me it starts with streamlining the immigration process and making a path to citizenship easier. The sad reality is that even if those people in the detention centers are taken back across the border, they will likely be across the river in no time and once again being held.
Biden is putting in to action a plan that will upgrade things to handle this many applicants but it will take time because Trump left him with very little to work with.
Hope so, its needed reform for the last 20 years but neither side has made it a priority. Just want the plan the other. Congress was hired to work for the people and get things done and this is a case where it hasn't for years.
When in doubt, blame Trump, just like he blamed Obama and I'm sure he blamed Bush and he blamed Clinton and so on and so on. You'd think at some point we'd get tired of all this blaming and demand action from the people in charge!
Complex issues (healthcare, immigration, domestic terrorism) cannot be solved without teamwork from all political parties. It just cant. Everything else is just patchwork, temporary, band-aid fixes that don't solve anything. Which is why we are fucked. It seems to me this is a long play - it requires the international community working with and holding these countries where people are fleeing, accountable more than they are now. If people are literally willing to die, and stick their children on rafts in rivers and hoping someone grabs them - those countries need to solve this problem as much or more so than the US does. In the meantime, we need to house these people safely and figure out a plan so they arent sitting there for weeks/months. I haven't even heard of any plan yet.
Well, Ted Cruz has finally showed an interest in what’s going on in the state he supposedly represents and has visited the camps. And of course he has discovered that the Democrats are entirely at fault. But I’m grateful that because Ted is now on the case the rest of America can sleep well tonight.....
Can someone give me the numbers of immigrants crossing the border for asylum this year, compared to the last 20 years? Is there really an influx?
Can’t we gets my peeps some TVs or some sort of entertainment, though? This is unacceptable. < What???? What does this mean?
