I think he will come off the bench but during the game he will line either CJ and Dame and sometimes maybe both. I believe there going Little ever chance to backup that SF position.
Actually Melo defense stats been pretty decent and made big defense stops when we needed it I have know problem him back neither he has except his role coming banch and has been doing pretty good at it right now. But the problem is when to play him not to play him and that's what Stotts has problem with some of his players.
We freely let opponents drain 3’s in our eye. I think it’s a lot of schematics and a little bit of an effort issue. If I had a nickel for every Blazer opponent who had a career night from 3 on us, I’d be rich
At the same time, if Dame put as much effort into becoming a good defender as he does being a sniper from halfcourt, I have to think he'd be pretty decent.
Very true. Hard to cover for his flaws defensively when you have CJ as his back court mate. Having Nurk’s shot blocking abilities back is going to help with the easy drives by the opponents. But not us getting our ass handed to us from outside.
what is he aiming for....signing a punter? Powell and Jones could both opt-out, go elsewhere and the Blazers would still be over the cap with only 7 players under contract. So they'd have to sign 7 players and they'd only have 25M in room under the tax line or both Powell and Jones opt-in and the Blazers would need to sign 5 players with less than 5M of room under the tax line. Good luck with all that
Neil made it clear yesterday that luxury tax won't be an issue next season but I get what you're saying. Not to allude to Clownzano having a clue but when I look at Olshey's move I am also left most of the time asking, what is the plan? What is the plan to win a championship with Dame. It seems you're asking that too. I think the problem that we have with Olshey is all of us, every Blazers fan, thinks about how we can win a championship with Dame and Olshey is stuck thinking about how we can win one with Dame and CJ.
if he said that he's fucking lying. What else is new. Of course it's an issue, because if the Blazers go over the tax next season, they'd be in repeater tax the following season. They need two straight seasons out of the tax to break the cycle, or at least 2 out of 3 season not in the tax and I'm fairly convinced that if Portland gets swept or simply bows out again in the first round, Seattle is not going to OK Portland being a taxpayer next season. That's probably the case if they have a 2nd round exit as well something else, I think Olshey spends a lot more time thinking about how he can continue his 8M/year salary than he does thinking about how to get the Blazers a championship
I think out of all the guys who were moved, I'm actually most bummed we didn't go after Vuc. I would have given up Nurk for Vuc.
I'm hoping that Olshey will be so impressed with his work over the summer that he will beg the owner to go over the cap for this "once in a lifetime opportunity!"
Anyone else feel like Norman (albeit, only 1 game) looked like someone who is a notch or 2 above Gary when it comes to being a complete player? And I'm not so sure that Gary will ever get that way. Creating shots for himself doesn't seem like Garys strong suit, but thats not a knock on him. It's just not worth 20+ million.
The language of the CBA: I'm looking at the "not including the most recent season" portion. we paid the previous 2. Not paying this season. So next year, we can go balls out, and still only pay normal tax. It's really 22-23 we'd have to worry about getting under again. Because that would be 3 of 4, not including that most recent season.
