Re: Moses Brown. It's not so much that he looked like a budding star, it was that there was no need NOT to keep him. He cost next-to-nothing and even if we didn't play him, he's more use to us than Giles. But, I've never been that eaten up about letting Jermaine go because in all likelihood he needed a change of scene (see also Zach Randolph) so we can be happy for Moses. At least he's not dong this for the Lakers or Nets or something.

 

I'm not because I know if he was on our team he'd be languishing on the end of the bench with Blevins. We'd have no idea he was even capable of this.

He looked like a budding star? He didn't even garner a mention from you in the ranking Blazer youngins, where you said none even looked like legit nba players, let alone a budding star.

But yeah, star potential.

 

Read it carefully and you'll see that I was saying he DIDN'T look like a budding star.

He was atrocious in the minutes he got with us. Good for him working hard, but he looked totally clueless out there

 

you can't judge Brown by his 21-23 game. That isn't his baseline...c'mon guys. He's not Gobert on steroids. for all we know, the last two weeks could be the highlight of his career

I'm all for trashing Olshey at every opportunity, and maybe there's a tiny reason to drill Olshey for Brown showing this talent on another team. But with Nurkic already on the roster, however injury prone he is; and with Kanter available and not only familiar with Stottsfence but willing to play any role for Portland, the Blazers had their quota of traditional C's. What they needed, and still do, is guys who can swing between PF and C; rim-runners and floor-stretchers. Guys like Christian Wood rather than a poor man's Gobert at an absolute ceiling; guys like Myles Turner or Bobby Portis or Mike Muscala. That's not Brown

that said, OKC has Brown locked up, if they want, for about 2.1M/year for the next 3 seasons. The Blazers sure could use a contract like that

 

I didn't mind Zbo at all in hindsight but I was pissed about Jermaine but I wasn't a huge Zbo fan and I was a pretty big Jermaine fan. So I liked the Zbo trade initially and wasn't too enthused about giving up Jermaine even if it was for a Davis brother.

 

No disrespect to Brown, but he played horrible while on the floor for us. Plain and simple! just a few weeks ago, nobody was crying about how they can’t believe we haven’t picked up Moses Brown for our roster. Just like right now nobody is wanting (insert name of any bench scrubs who have guarded the Gatorade for us in the past).Good on him for stepping up when given a chance. Wish he had done that for us.

 

It might've taken being cut by us to light a fire under his ass. It's common to wonder what would've happened if we'd've kept Zach Randolph, but I think he only bothered to learn defense after bouncing around the league so much he knew he was on his last chance. I would regret losing Moses more if he looked like a defensive stud, but he shows no signs of being Gobert Mk. II, despite his physical similarities.

 

If it means anything, he’s a very nice kid and a hard worker, easy to root for!
