The fact is that if Kerr is struggling coaching this team and the Warriors want to retain him, those fans should shut the fuck up because that coach has three rings with them. That being said, people on here that are and have been frustrated with Stotts for over half a decade and have great reasons for being frustrated, have more solid ground to stand on because we haven't won anything with Stotts as the head coach. Accomplishments bring stability in any job and they should. Kerr is getting the "what have you done for me lately?" treatment which some can view as fair and others as unfair but giving Stotts the "what have you done for me ever?" treatment has to be considered fair to everyone. So if Kerr and Stotts are both worse coaches than the fans think they should have leading their teams, Kerr has earned a ton more leeway than Stotts, who should have none. Oh and as a fan I don't have to come up with a better option than Stotts and Olshey in order to have the opinion that they need to be removed. They haven't done shit and it's fine for me to hope the next hires will.
There's a difference between trash and playoff team and then another tier above that is contender. They have a lot of young guys that aren't ready to contribute consistently. Warriors fans are used to having a veteran team. It was easy for them to be patient when Curry was out, but now that Curry is back they're impatient. The problem is, Curry never had to carry a team by himself, and he's really not that good at it.
I would be much more forgiving of a college coach in a good program; every year he has to play in a single elimination tournament; that's pretty tough .
I wish the NBA playoffs were single elim. We would have knocked the Lakers out in the first round last year.
Playoff games can be won with just one possession. I don't any confidence in Stotts to actually manage and value possessions. His brand of basketball works fine in the regular season, but he gets completely picked apart in the playoffs and he never has a rebuttal. He still hasn't figured out what to do when the opposing team blitzes Dame.
I mean, you think Portland's roster is clearly better and Golden State had a better point differential until Curry recently got injured and the Warriors tanked. So if Curry really isn't good at it, Lillard is awful at it.
Kerr would not have any more wins as the Blazer coach than Stotts. Maybe less. I 100% believe this. Kerr is the guy you want when the team is loaded. He won’t fuck it up.
Root for Blazers and Mavs to pass Lakers in standings. I want Lakers in play-in where anything can happen. Would be so cool if Ja got hot and LeBron missed the playoffs.
You can talk point differential or you can talk record which is better cuz the record reflects how Dame has carried his team to wins in the clutch time after time despite bad point diff.
I'll talk about point differential, since I think significantly outperforming point differential is basically luck. IMO, point differential is the best measure of a team.
I think there is a lot of validity to this. Especially if you don't think being "clutch" is a thing and/or coaches don't make a big difference late in close games.
Trail Blazers Coch Terry Stotts as readies for tough part of schedule: 'We're headed in the right direction' (yahoo.com)
The defense is not entirely Stotts' fault. At some point the players need to play with some pride and urgency. Our first quarter defense has been absolutely abysmal all season long. Is the team then tuning out Stotts? If that's the case, then we definitely need a new coach. A good coach has the ear of his players and, to me, I don't think Terry has it.
If Lakers fall to 7th, they are in play-in. Let’s say Spurs are 8th and they lost to Spurs in the 7th seed play in game. Then a loss to a team like the Grizz could prevent Lakers from qualifying for playoffs.
