Okay, I just read the original post and I am flabbergasted. HCP's "hazing" of new posters is hilarious, not hurtful. Most of us have gotten the "rook" treatment. Second, if you ever write an employer a letter trying to get someone fired because your feelings were hurt on a public forum about a freaking sports team, get a life. Third, I remember that post Sly quoted and: a) didn't think twice about it; b) didn't think it called out any posters in particular, and; c) thought it made an important point. Any jackhole can be a MIXUM, but why be that miserable about a pastime that's supposed to be fun? I hope we can all find a way to disagree in an agreeable fashion (a standard to which I often fail, but always try). In the words of Drew Carey, "Lighten up, people!"
morning everyone 8am here in new zealand just a friendly reminder that: this is the internet none of it really matters its not that serious ignore button is good real life is more important there are people outside that you dont like too, avoid them and move on now im about to jump into a few hours of zoom meetings. enjoy the day!
With each successive generation, internet is more and more becoming "real life." But yeah, I don't really understand why people think they should be insulated against people they don't like on forums like this, when they aren't in the real world. These types of forums even give Ignore powers that you don't have in meat space.
Bingo. I've never had a complaint for any mod. If you are complaining to the mods you are already a problem.
About or to, are different things. I think it's fine to complain to one of us (to a degree), but complaining *about* seems a little childish. Speaking of that, Sly is a doodoo caca head.
This is possible. There are only a few people that could definitively say who wrote the letter to the Blazers and I am not one of them. If OB says he did not, I will take his word.
Agreed. I would never insinuate that he's lying. But the way he will not let it drop doesn't help his cause. It really was friendly advice when I suggested he stay as far away from that topic as possible. No good can come from him addressing it. At all.
I have taken this approach to its logical conclusion. I have blocked everyone but me on this forum, so my own posts are the only ones that display in my feed. I have to say, since I took this approach, I find this forum both interesting and delightful. Also, no one ever disagrees with me.
Personally, I’m wondering if it isn’t someone who has been permanently banned but still lurks here. They can’t post but they can still read everyone else’s posts......and run with them wherever they want to. And several folks I can think of who have been banned (or left) the past few years weren’t huge HCP fans......I too will take OB at his word.......
Could also be someone that found real offense with his post. With anything, you never know who it will offend. I cannot tell that person they are wrong for taking it that way, but do think going to a person's employer is messed up.
If one of my employers mentioned there were complaints about my activity off the job I would want to know specifics, and who's bring the complaints. There has to be a the ability to defend or counter any accusations.
If they can provide screenshotted proof of you saying something racist, it's hard to defend or counter it.
You can just say that's not you. That only fails for the poor schlubs who use their real names as their... Oh. Well, this is awkward.
