Nothing disrespectful and I have an all weather American flag on my 20 foot lighted flag pole. I love the flag and sometimes fly my Army flag below the American flag. We try to set the flags at half mast whenever the President or our governor decrees. I literally am incapable of doing it physically but I get my wife to do it amongst all her other chores so sometimes it doesn't get done right away.

Some years ago a woman was shot dead by cops in San Jose. She had a history of mental disability. A neighbor heard her sobbing in her apartment and called 911, explaining the woman had mental health problems and asked they send a doctor, nurse, social worker, clergy member, someone who had experience calming distraught people. She also explained the woman, who was Vietnamese, did not speak English. They sent two English speaking cops, who broke down her door. The woman, seeing two strange men bursting in shouting at her, was terrified and grabbed a kitchen knife. She was under five feet tall and 90 pounds. The cops shot her dead in front of her children. Ruled justified.

Interesting point... What makes it an assault rifle? Was it select fire with both fully automatic and semi automatic capability?

What made that rifle more dangerous than a hunting rifle?

Scary. Kill them all. This scourge of suburban white kids who feel empathy for those who are abused in our country must be stopped...

There is no other choice but to give up our 1st ammendment right to assembly and encourage police to beat random people who exercise that right.

My daughter is that age. Her friends are that age.

Those cops needed to be put in jail and the department which paid people like that to carry guns needs to be completely changed.

    That poor child.

Should have tazed the knife girl. Would have stopped her. But, she was about kill someone, so shooting her was understandable...sucks though to see cops always go straight to their guns.

The Lents cop should be fired and be held accountable for sure. Police need better training how to deal with the mentally ill and how to de-esculqte situations. Not run up, make demands with guns drawn, and then shoot seconds later. Those cops were behind trees, he wasn't pointing a gun at them. They were not in danger. And then they bean bagged his dead body? Jesus.

    1) Look how far he was in the video. Chances the tazer was going to stop her are slim
    2) He walked out of his car holding the gun, he didnt have time to get his tazer (swap them out).

Reason he walked out with his gun is because on the 911 call he got 30 secs earlier, it sounded like it was life and death situation.

For people to argue against what the cop did is illogical.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
I think based on how things played out, this shooting was understandable enough that I wouldn't assume racism or psychopathy in this police officer.

I also think based on both recent and long-established history, it's understandable that many people have almost no trust in cops these days and I get why there's been some harsh snap reactions.

Meanwhile, Republican controlled states have another pet project, along with making it hard to vote and hating trans kids. Outlawing protests. Numerous states have bills pending to make civil disobedience, like sitting down on the streets, a felony. Various bills woul block anyone arrested for unlawful assembly from state jobs, running for office (which would have barred Julian Bond, John Lewis Vernon Jordan, and other civil rights leaders), barring anyone arrested for unlawful assembly from student loans, unemployment, or housing assistance. Baby rapers can get unemployment but not protesters.

Florida governor just signed a bill, surrounded by an all white group of legislators, making protest tactics a felony, absolving from damages anyone who drives a car into a crowd of demonstrators from being held responsible for injuries, and as icing on the rancid cake, protects confederate monuments. The law also prohibits local communities from making changes in public safety without the governor's consent.

And new voting restrictions will, they hope, keep Republicans in total control is state's governor, legislature, and courts.

With so many states legalizing or decriminalizing things like marijuana this is going to hurt the legal system. We have to fill this felony void. Otherwise we won't need as many jails, lawyers, etc. Since it's obvious that the majority of these protestors are high on the marijuanas laws like this will allow society to still punish and oppress these peoples.

Forgot to add Florida bill denies bail to people arrested at protest.

I am sure they will make exceptions for Trumper insurrectionists.

I'm sure it specifies only Dems, BLM or anarchists are denied bail.

I don't find that an interesting point. What is this obsession with the definition of "assault rifle"? Yes, I know that the A in AR-15 stands for Armalite.

I asked a question. How is that an obsession?

You said it was an assault rifle. If it was a legally owned AR of any style, that's just flat out wrong. Assault rifles are capable of fully automatic fire. You can not legally own an assault rifle in the US without an incredibly expensive and invasive licensing process.

What this kid used to commit that terrible act was an underpowered hunting rifle which is used over 99.9% of the time to shoot rodents and paper targets.
