well, now I don't know what you mean by upper-tier talent. If I was defining that, I'd say there were two players total on both teams with upper-tier talent and that's Dame and Morant and Dame is in likely the biggest funk of his career, probably for 3 or 4 different reasons

Memphis played tonight without Jaren Jackson, their 2nd best player, and still won the game

Body language is so obvious, this team isn’t bothered by losing. I’ll keep saying it; Dame is finished with Stotts. It’s not even that hard to buy. His agent/manager has been openly complaining about coaching for awhile now on social media. I’d be naive to believe Dame isn’t thinking the same shit.

c'mon man...Morant, Jackson, JV, Brooks, Anderson, Clarke, Winslow. They have more rotational players than you're crediting

and Melton is averaging 18-5-5 per36 while shooting 45% on three's and posting a .610 TS%; his PER would rank 4th on the Blazers

He should if he was in the team.

    However, there are two problems:
    1) Olshey doesn't believe in having a backup PG
    2) Stotts doesn't believe in playing a defensive minded player significant minutes

    Two explanations:
    1. We were glued to the screen in amazement - "they're...not fucking up!!!"
    2. Watching us cut into a lead with Melo is like watching your kid not study for a class and guess the right answers and then think s/he doesn't need to change.

I'm getting a definite Afflalo vibe from Powell. Have we won a game since we traded for him?

    (Only half joking.)

He’s gonna leave and we will have gotten nothing for GTJ, which was my fear from the start.

CJ and Powell would be their second and third best players after Morant. Nurk would start over Val. Nothing I'm saying is provocative. We have way more talent and experience than they do. Every coach in the league would agree.

I'm not down on his overall production, but he's been rough in critical moments.
