Common misconception, D'Antoni's Rockets were actually one of the best on defense in the post season the year before he left. He'd be fantastic.
Man i remember whne Dame signed his supermax. I voiced and posted thst it would cap our team. And if Dame anted to win he would take less. Now i see numbers being shown that he isnt really worth what he is making. I took alot of heat on this board for asserting that Dame should take less if he wants to win. Now it seems my opinion is coming to fruition. Cant put other all stars around someone making almost 50 mill a year... insane percentage of the cap and a player who wants to win has to see that. Not trying to bash Dame then and not now. im as big a fan as anyone of his. But other players have taken less. Id love to see Dame be the Tom Brady of basketball and restructure his contract to allow the team to bring in more help. I wont knock him if he doesn't but it seems it will be a requirement if he wants a ring here.
He's Nash's lead assistant on Brooklyn's coaching staff. For the record, I would absolutely hate him as our new head coach.
I don't think that Dame is all about winning a ring. To me it looks like he's cool with making the Conference Finals and being cool with teammates and coaches.
Buying into what? That we have been relegated to basically the same type of season over and over and over again while watching Dame's prime sadly go by? That in 9 years, Stotts hasn't figured out how to even remotely deal with a trap? That we are sadly so near the bottom in defense, assists and fast break points? I'm not giving up on the team....but there are some things that are reality based that have to be accepted or this nonsense will continue even longer.
At some point, Dame's body won't bounce back from the injuries and he will just be not as good. THink Blake Griffin.
I'm sure Dame is about winning a ring but like with most people there are competing interests and with Dame it's his loyalty. He would rather not win one than win one in what he would consider to be the wrong way. The fact is that Dame will never sell his teammates, coaches or organization out/throw them under the bus. What we have seen him do is express his disappointment when teammates are moved and his enthusiasm for his new teammates. So Dame is about getting rings, he's just not about debasing others to do it. He thinks he can win championships doing things that way and I agree with him. He just has to have management above him that realizes that they will have to be the shrewd ones, not their superstar player.
What injuries though? Lillard has pretty much been an iron man. Nothing very serious. Griffin was injury prone from the beginning of his career. Lillards deal isn’t injuries. It’s fatigue from trying to carry the team. That’s why I thought he should have skipped the All Star stuff
I'm not sure I see a strong correlation between the two. Height? Body type? Style of play? Injury history prior to age 30?
