Must be nice to live in a world where your actions don't impact anyone else. Maybe I can visit sometime when the starship returns to pick you up.

 

That's not going to be the case for a while yet because vaccines are only now becoming available for kids 12-16 years of age. Ones for children younger than that won't be available until probably fall. I think that we're seeing numbers drop across the nation and are beginning to here in Oregon. I suspect that as the numbers get lower this summer, most of the restrictions are going to be lifted anyway. By next season, barring any new variants that crash the party, going to a Blazer game should be pretty much normal, in my estimation.

 

I’m responsible for my actions; you’re responsible for your actions. I can only pass it to others who don’t have the vaccine, which, at this point is primarily people who don’t want it.

So if we packed the rose garden with people, both vaxxed and unvaxxed, what do you care? Only those of us who are unvaxxed should be bothered. And if you’re unvaxxed, and wish you were vaxxed, stay home. Should be happy to watch evolution wipe out us “non vaxxed” people. FWIW I’m not even anti vax.

The Vaccine works against variants supposedly; if you had children at home, being vaxxed means you can’t carry and pass it on, so you shouldn’t be worried about them either.

so who exactly am I worrying about? The other people who aren’t vaxxed like me — by choice?

how about we let the parents and kids be responsible for their actions

If Timmy and his dad wanna go to a blazer game, they can make that decision themselves knowing the risks

or go to a restaurant

This is one of the best posts I have ever read, and I can tell you it's not for the reason you think.

This was a masterclass.

 

I care about more than myself. I care about the kid sitting in the row in front of me who hasn’t had the chance to get vaccinated yet. I care about the old lady sitting next to you who, while having been vaccinated, unknowingly is one of the 5-10% who can still get it because her immune system doesn’t work quite as well as most people’s.

 

I agree with opening up but “I’m not vaxxed, if I die, I die,” what if you don’t die but pass it on to someone else? I didn’t get vaccinated to save myself. It’s to save others and get back to life as we knew it. Your attitude is ignorant, selfish, and dangerous.

Just because @JoshuaHall is promoting opening everything all up does not mean he cares any less than you about the kid, old lady, or the community.
Your argument is based on a false dichotomy.

I do find it sad so many people are misinformed about vaccines that millions of people have taken and very few have had dangerous side effects. It's obviously safe if we're almost 6 months in. So the misinformation is winning. That virtue signaling, I'd argue, is just as dangerous.

 

Poppycrock. I don’t know anything about @JoshuaHall. He may be an absolute saint who would literally give the shirt off his back to someone in need. I was just responding to what he said in his post. Basically, his position is that as an unvaccinated person, he’s willing to take the risk associated with his choices as to what he does. The problem with that is that it’s not just his risk at play. If he happens to get Covid and is one of the many asymptotic people who have it, everyone he comes into contact with shares in his risk choices. There are about equal numbers of vaccinated and unvaccinated people in the state right now, so it’s a pretty good bet he’s going to expose someone who is at risk. Even for the people he comes into contact with who are vaccinated the risk isn’t zero. The vaccines are really good, but not perfect. When it comes to a pandemic, no one is an island with respect to risk. Viruses don’t give a crap how you feel about your personal freedoms and right to make your own decisions. They just do what they do whenever given a chance.

The vaccine SUPPOSEDLY prevents people from getting infected and/or passing it to others INCLUDING the mutations of the strain.
