Just an FYI, I can't edit your post. At least not until I hack Sly's account.

Well Stotts has one year left on his contract and with late year surge will help him keep that job. The winning record he has even though all our injuries will help him keep his job. Now with almost healthy roster and the biggest complaints was the defense from higher up now there been a good improvement on defense will help him to keep his job. If we make the playoffs and not there yet will help keep his job. To me if I have to be realistic about it Stotts has a very good chance to keep his job. I believe the only way don't come back if we fail to make the playoffs. Because we all can speculate how we fill about Stotts and that goes with the media too. But if the ownership is satisfy with results and guess olshey would fit in it to he will keep his job. But my opinion of him there to many flaws in his systems that offense and defense makes me fill that I want him the head coach of the Blazers but that's my opinion. But we will find out probably couple weeks after the ends of the season.

So what if he’s out AFTER this season?? We’re talking about THIS season and it ain’t over till it’s over. They’re currently in the #6 spot and finally healthy and relatively fully staffed. I never knew championships included style points. Silly me. Coaches are hired to be fired. That’s why they make the big bucks. Calling my comments “gotcha” points is nothing more than you being butt hurt over being essentially called out for being a perennial Negative Nancy. The fact that you apparently can’t get any pleasure out of watching this team speaks far more about you than it does about me, Olshey, Stotts or the team in general. The Blazers are always saying they have the best fans in all of sports, but you’d never know it by visiting SC2. I don’t have blind loyalty to anyone or anything on this earth (except for my wife), I just choose not to whine about things I can’t change. And I try to enjoy what I’m lucky enough to have. Some of you guys have no clue just how lucky we were to get this team in the first place……and how lucky we are to have held on to them for 50 years. If and when Portland ever wins another championship some of you guys are going to be blown away by the “is that all there is?” feeling after the euphoria wears off. But I guess because you were once a sports writer for a short period of time, that gives you some extra special insight and added wisdom. If we end up falling short again this season, oh fucking well. Life continues to stagger on. And there’s always next season. Interesting how all consuming this is for so many people.

I'm talking about the thread. The original post. Which is what my ORIGINAL COMMENT was about. The only person coming off as butt hurt is you because you decided to make it personal and call me names. Grow up.

    agreed

that team was 32-5 at one point and were 50-10 when Walton got hurt. Lucas also got injured and missed the last 14 games. It was the end of a dynasty before it ever got going

Stotts and Olshey aren't going anywhere, especially after the Blazers beat the Suns tonight and the Nuggets on Sunday.
If the Blazers get to the 5 seed and then beat the Nuggets in the first round, I wonder what folks will say then?

You mean my reply to YOUR reply? That post?

You're just the guy who can't have a conversation without making it personal, apparently.

I have a very strong, gut feeling that the overall belief in here about Stotts isn’t felt within the walls of the blazer offices. I really think Stotts’ seat was VERY hot about two weeks ago. I don’t think the sentiment about Carmelo is felt the same way either. In fact, same with a bunch of guys. They seem pretty tight right now and happy. If they get swept or only win one game maybe that all changes.

They will say we beat a team with a franchise player injured. Until we beat a legitimate team in the playoffs, that criticism has merit.

And you’re just a guy who can’t have a conversation without taking it personal. I made a general statement of opinion initially and you made a conscious choice to martyr yourself. Kinda sensitive, are we? Why don’t you just pack up this season and walk away until next year if you’re so unhappy?? Kinda like going to bed and waking up in hopes Santa has come…..but until that happens we have a season to complete and the one trick pony shit gets old. ……..the SC2 “experts” can just keep singing the only song they appear to know while the rest of us continue to support our team.

I agree with you here ... this late season run might just save both guys jobs for at least another year. This is why I refuse to get up in arms about the GM and/or coach because it's out of my control. I might want them run out of town but if I can't do anything about it personally, than why blow a gasket over it.

    Interesting take.

Seems like you were the one who decided to MAKE it personal.

This organization has literally fired a coach the same season he won coach of the year.

What will I say? Same thing I've always said - no team has ever had a defense as bad as ours and made it to the finals, and only 1 team that was even in the ballpark.

You know what I'm tired of? People sharing their opinion about the team and then being attacked. Personally attacked. By the supposed positive thinkers. The people who can't seem to stand the thought of someone having an unhappy thought about the team, so they need to LASH OUT and call them names and question their loyalty to the team. They won't attack Terry Stotts, who is being paid millions of dollars to do a job, but they'll attack fellow fans who will still be here long after Stotts is gone. Let that one sink in. You won't attack the guy who is paid to be here, but you WILL attack the people who are here because they love the team. Super classy.

I think there's a gigantic difference between being "blindly faithful to Stotts" and not thinking he's the main problem and/or that getting rid of him will make a significant difference.

My mind is blown by the people who's majority focus is on a coach and not the guy responsible for creating the roster AND retaining the coach.

Sure, but this is a thread about the coach, and there are people who think us beating up on weak opponents is now magically making everything okay again.

I agree that personally attacking someone for liking or not liking someone is ridiculous. Anyone who is against these types of attacks should be equally up in arms whether the personal attacks are for or against their basketball opinion. Myself included.
