Stotts named coach of the month after Dame asked Powell how to play.

I’m not betraying anyone. Stotts is adequate, but he can only work with what’s available to him. That’s on Olshey

Okay sorry but i must interject mm.

So does this mean Olshey is responsible for breaking nurks hand, cj’s foot and had nothing to do with powell being traded to Portland?

Is Phoenix’s roster that much better than ours? Is Utah? I don’t buy this. We have good players. We have one of the best players in the league. Our best player is better than the jazz or suns.

The good news is we'll likely find out the answer to this question next year. I'm going to bet that a similar core + a new coach will not produce a +.700 winning percentage next year and probably won't even make it to the WCF.

Not what I’m trying to say, BUT, he is responsible for depth

Also, Stotts isn’t responsible for the injuries either

It dawned on my last night what Stotts' system is, and what its strengths and weaknesses are from a developmental standpoint.

1a) I almost prefer nail-biter games with this team, because watching our bench try to protect leads in the 4th is maddening. No one runs any plays. It's just individuals looking to get shots up.

1b) The team never seems interested in acquiring a true backup PG.

    2) Stotts has a very good track record in Portland of developing bench gunners, aka 3-and-mediocre-D players like Trent, Simons, Crabbe, Pat, Layman, Barton, etc.

What finally clicked is, those are not coincidental characteristics of the team under Stotts' leadership. Bench players are developed to be instant offense gunners. Nothing more, nothing less. Their role is to be able to fill in around the starters when needed. They don't run offense as a unit because that's not what's expected of them.

It's also a major red flag to teams thinking it's worth signing our 2nd round picks after their rookie contracts, expecting them to grow into a bigger role.

For those Blazer Employees reading this, my 21 yo son has a message:
"Stotts goes or I go. It is not good for my mental health to keep watching a Stotts-coached team."

For the record, he's been listening to @BonesJones a lot....

Ok, maybe we won't have to wait until next year to answer that question.
