To be honest I thought I would be a lot more happy to see Terry leave than I actually am. Not because I didn't think we needed a change because we clearly did, but because he does seem like a genuinely good guy who was beloved by the players and organization. I wish him the best moving forward wherever he ends up.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.

It was time for Stotts to go. Nice man but time for a change.

Kidd was assistant on championship team like Stotts. In my eye he wasn't successful at that job either.

Nowhere does it read Jason Kidd. I like these 4!

Then you admit you have no idea what you’re talking about and Kidd and/or Billups could be a top 4 candidate for all you know.

You’d think you’d be able to come up with 4 candidates if you’re this vehemently against the current crop.

For example, my top 4 would be:
    Billups
    Johnnie Bryant
    Hammond
    Edit: Forgot Howard whoops

probably Joeger / Kidd / Clifford (no particular order)

    Hello darkness, my old friend
Jason Kidd is essentially Mark Jackson, with the added resume line of domestic abuse.

Like Jackson, Kidd was a power-hungry, credit-demander who marginalized his assistant coaches and created an atmosphere of paranoia where no one felt comfortable speaking up in case they offended Kidd. So, even if you're the type who doesn't care about domestic abuse, him being a terrible person carries over into the basketball arena, too.

My top choice would be Becky Hammon, because I want someone fresh and new to the role but who has built up a solid track record of working within the NBA, and working with the Spurs' players under Popovich seems like the ideal type of training.

I'm sorry to be the guy but it needs to be asked when it comes to Becky Hammon: Would players truly respect and get behind a female head coach?

Becky Hammon stood for the national anthem when the players were taking knees.

    racist?
    Meyers 2.0?

give her the same treatment you gave Meyers

My top 2 coaches from any of the names I've heard would be Erik Spoelstra and Chauncey Billups. The other names, especially Kidd and D'Antoni, don't sound very good at all.

I'm not sure if this is a response to me or not but I personally have nothing against Hammon. But for her to become an NBA head coach is treading into unknown territory.

first of all, for the "don't know what you're talking about" remark, go pound sand...with your forehead

as far as Kidd and Billups, I happen to have enough respect for women to actually believe there are better candidates, because those past acts I find pretty disqualifying. I did say, maybe, Billups could deserve some redemption. Still, at this stage, I'd really prefer a coach that hasn't been listed on a police blotter

no, general comment to everyone who wants Hammond but is bringing up Kidd’s (albeit much, much worse) personal history.

isn’t taking a knee a bit of a red flag?

I mean when Meyers did it people were freaking out, no?

but since they want hammon, it’s all good right?

I really don't want to politicize this but I don't think loving and showing respect for your country should disqualify you from a coaching position. Literally should be the least of our worries.

Players tune out coaches not because they don't like them personally but because they don't see results from the coaching and instructions given. If what Hammon is telling the players to do is delivering results the players will listen. They're professionals and want to win.

Obvious caveat - none of us know for certain who is or is not interested in the job.

Top of the list long-shots: Spoelstra, Monty Williams.
    Other: 1) Udoka, 2) Howard, 3) Billups.

Yeah beating your pregnant wife is the same as not taking a knee for the national anthem.

I think it will come down to D'Antoni or Billups. Not sure where people are hearing Erik Spoelstra name. Sounds more like a pipe dream.
