Yes he did, with Terry Stotts running their offense. If he was that great of coach he'd been to get out of the first round since, wouldn't he? I mean everyone thing Rivers is a great coach but he's underachieved in LA with many all star players. Yeah the one in Boston but look who he had? If he doesn't get Philly to the promise land he wont last long there.
I hope they take a serious look at Howard. Apparently he was great as an assistant in Miami and we all see what he did in his first year at Michigan (14-3 record with a run to Elite 8). He’s a sleeper in my opinion. Hope he gets interviewed at the bare minimum. I’m not sold on D’Antoni though.
So about coaching trees..which one is Juwan Howard from? Spo? And Billups? Larry Brown? Can one of them grow their own tree? That’s the guy I want
I read this and went "Wow". You can be assured if Lillard said nothing the press would be having an absolute field day! "Wanna know when they quit caring? They will stop bitching" would be on pretty much every page. I can just hear Stephen A Smith now.
wow....wasn't aware that Billups was accused of gang rape and settle with money. In this day and age with twitter and flash media not sure how that would be received if Portland signed him a a coach? If that were to happen today, even if not convicted but was able to settle, Im not sure it would fly? Dont know.
I guess you could write an essay about the power of redemption. but I don't see a compelling reason to risk the blowback. Maybe I'm a dreamer but I'd think Portland can find a good coach who doesn't have something like this in their past. Why risk it. I'd also wonder how the owner, a woman, feels about Billups as a candidate
he wasn’t even charged, nevermind a conviction. A settlement isn’t an admission of guilt btw. And unlike Kidd, this was an isolated incident. Sorry, but it’s gonna take more for my moral compass to kick in. If he was a deviant, I’d think something else would’ve popped up in the 25 years since.
Say what you want but I don't think D'Antoni is just smoke. He may not have been able to get it done in the playoffs just yet or if ever but he does have a lot of experience. He is also well likeable and considered a top coach around the league. I'm not saying he'd be my top choice but anywhere he is considered I doubt it's just smoke or a courtesy interview.
There’s a 0.01% chance Portland is gonna hire D’Antoni imo. I would love to hear Olshey try and explain that one though: “Yeah we can’t defend anyone, so we hired Mike D’Antoni.”
Don't know all the particulars at all. To me if I was innocent I wouldnt pay to make something go away, would you?
do you think dame would like a head coach who dont give a fuck about preferential treatment and holds his players accountable (from what ive read, dave joerger is such and he actually knows how to use bigs) terry stotts was the opposite of that and it went to far according to me
