He's a fucking moron. I think he knows NOW what the roster needs, but he definitely didn't know last off-season. 1. Mentions that the 29th defensive rating wasn't a result of the roster. (Thanks Terry!) 2. Then thinks the bench needs defensive oriented players (Who brought Melo back? Who traded for Kanter?) Is this not a result of the roster? 3. Knows Jones didn't work out as expected, which is why they got Powell. Who signed Jones? Was that also not the a fault of the roster?
why in the world would Neil or the front office bend over backwards for the fans? whats in it for them? i dont get it. portland fans take everything so personally.
He talked about 'stars' designating where they wanted to go being a reason why they hadn't made major trades. Didn't Harden put Portland on his list as one of the teams he wanted to play for?
Because that's who buys the tickets and merch. And all fans in all markets do this, it's not a Portland thing.
My favorite reporter in Portland. He asks tough ass questions instead of the regular soft balls Portland reporters usually do
I think he's just as much to blame as Terry. A lot of what he said about the roster and the defensive rating contradict his statement that the roster wasn't the problem. Or maybe he just thought we should have been 20th instead of 29th. In that case he's still an idiot. Why did no one ask him why he never signed another center that can actually defend the rim? Kanter was a huge reason why our defense was so garbage, particularly because Nurk was injured this season. Well who the fuck decided to trade for Kanter and then not sign a backup option?
I wonder if talking about playing defense every year will just sound like how years ago they keep talking about playing more up tempo.
the Melo kanter signings were obviously his fault. And it’s even worse when you think about the defensive scheme they originally wanted to run.
OK, so he is answering questions. He just needs to be nicer? Who cares. Ive seen a ton more players, coaches, GMs, etc., dodge questions a whole lot more than Neil. It isnt easy sitting there with people firing off questions at you that we all know are putting you on the spot. Its his job, and he does it, but doesnt mean he shoudl love doing it or kiss their asses.
Of course not. He's married to CJ till the end of time. His answer on why we never paired Dame with another all-star is that those deals never materialized or those players never wanted to come team up with Dame. We know that's bullshit and CJ was never made available in the past. Now it's too late.
Olshey as GM guarantees another season of mediocrity....and everybody with a pulse knows that's true he's going rinse-repeat the same roster folks
Its Portland dude. Nobody wants to play here. If I’m a superstar i don’t give a shit about the Gm I would care about the market
Highkin is wrong. He was talking about the 29th rated defense, not losing in the second round, as not being a product of the roster. (Although he probably believes the above statement as well)
Who even holds Olshey accountable for anything in this organization? McGowan was hired on to be an arena guy. He doesn’t know personnel matters.
How do we know thats bullshit? If we don’t want Cj anymore why the hell would any other team be excited for him? They see him ball hog and dribble for 22 seconds to shoot a dumb shot like we do..
