If we fall flat next year, it will almost certainly necessitate a Dame trade. Both RoCo and Nurk are expiring, which will leave the team with CJ, Dame, and nothing else to improve the roster with.
Yeah, at that point if Dame demands a trade we'll go into full on youth rebuild mode. I'm just really hoping that we won't be left with CJ because Neil has the good sense to move him this off season.
I REALLY wish someone would have asked him about NOT having a backup PG this season & if he'll look to sign on in the off-season. The team fell apart all year long when Dame sat.
I hope you are right in your belief that Olshey has FINALLY seen the light. Admittedly, my opinion of Olshey couldn't be much lower so I don't share that belief obviously. If he had the qualities necessary to see the light and change his attitude he wouldn't have spent that news conference repeatedly stabbing Stotts in the back. That was one sorry spectacle but absolutely my biggest fear is that Olshey ends up trading Dame and keeping CJ around so he can elevate CJ up on an alter of 28 shots a game. That would also insure Portland had a string of lottery picks that Olshey could fuck up
Counterpoint: If he traded Dame and CJ ran the show for a year it may boost his value enough to actually be tradable.
Neil sounds like the dbag I’ve been accusing him of being for the past 4 seasons. If I’m Lillard I’d demand a trade after that presser. They have to get rid of CJ imo, coaching should help some but the roster is currently broken.
Whew! That's some bleak stuff. Let's hope the subtle things said today that put CJ in a completely different light than Neil had put him in the past, are a sign that what you just said would never happen... if Olshey did trade Dame and keep CJ I would expect him to be trying to remain competitive so he would still likely get a first option and leave CJ as the second option and Neil better be able to prove that Dame asked for the trade.
If you get to the point where you are trading Dame, you should definitely be rehabbing CJ's value to launch him out as well. Kind of like how OKC rehabbed Paul's value and then shipped him out first chance they got.
I like say if we have out come next year like this year they probably be looking for new GM. Why I took it he going run back with majority players coming back. But due DJJ not pan out he will be the one that will target to trade if he opt-in. But I get if he great offer for one of his players then he would pull the trigger.
I disagree....if you're trading Dame then for fuck sakes, dump CJ too because the BEST assets you will get in that case are the lottery picks for the next 3 or 4 seasons. Don't fuck around and try to rehab any reputation. Don't create a situation to lose 50 games when you can lose 65. CJ isn't going to rehab his value because the rest of the league knows exactly who he is and for damn sure, if you have lottery picks, the last person you want in charge is Olshey
He eluded to the process of having assets for trades. He's convinced Portland cannot attract FA's and Jody & Bert probably are as well.
I’m absolutely loving the social media response to the Olshey presser. He ain’t fooling anyone….except maybe Jody Allen. And if she’s paying any kind of attention at all, she’ll eventually figure it out. I just hope it’s sooner rather than later. I never thought I’d ever see a more arrogant POS General Manager that Darryl Morey but that individual DOES exist and he resides at 1 Center court…….
Interesting stats. But just about EVERY contender is in this situation. The Lakers are in even Worst condition due to the fact Father Time ain't lost, and he's beginning to show his entrance into the mustard and purple empire. That being said, Neil has to make some big deals this summer. With climate change, Portland's weather should suit him fine, so he should have no excuses for failing.
