Seems Milwaukee is in a similar place as Portland - both teams cannot dink around.

    CJ + RoCo + DJJ

    Middleton + Holiday
    ———————————

    Dame / Holiday
    Powell / Ant / Elleby

= a nice group of guards

Middleton + Little = good at SF

Collins + Melo + Vet PF that has some bang left (Milsap type)

    Nurkic + Kanter + Giles

If we made that trade, Powell wouldn't re-sign with us.

do you think he'll re-sign as things are now?

I really have no clue what he's thinking, but I'd guess he doesn't want to sign on to be a SF and he doesn't want to sign on to be a backup

I've been saying Middleton for the past couple weeks.

I'd take out roco and holiday in the deal and try to make it work. I'd give cj and a first in 2022 for him. Add in any fodder as needed from either sides.

If we traded CJ for Middleton, I don't see why Powell wouldn't consider it. He would be our starting 2 guard while Middleton plays the 3.

sure, but the discussion was about Middleton + Jrue coming to Portland

kind of a too good to be true thing, although losing RoCo would hurt

Speaking of Bucks, YUCK!! They've completely come undone in this series. W/O Harden playing for the Nets.

Exactly - as my thread post points out! It’s HOW we get Powell to sign - add Middleton

jrue would back-up Dame but all 4 guards would play - giving Dane a bit of a break

The target needs to be Giannis. We need him to want out. I don't think he's a true number one option. He would be an AMAZING number two. We need a superstar to WANT To come to Portland.

JaMychael Green plays big and is tough - we can sign him if RoCo is traded

If Kawhi can force PG out of OKC, why can't Dame help Giannis force his way out of Milwaukee?

Jrue as a backup? He’s way too good for that.

Two completely different situations. OKC knew that they had peaked in the Westbrook/George era. When PG requested the trade, they probably saw an opportunity to rebuild with as many picks as they can so they grabbed a whole bunch of assets for PG so they blew it up and also traded Westbrook out of OKC, which turned out to be a good decision. You didn’t even hear about PG’s trade request until the night the trade was announced.

Ooooon the other end, Giannis is entering year 1 of his supermax. The Bucks have a bunch of good pieces and are always a top seed. Why not continue to try adjusting the roster and find a CJ-type of player before trading your 2-time MVP? You got 2-3 more cracks at the finals before Giannis can realistically demand a trade to a specific destination.

If Giannis demanded a trade right now, there will be MANY teams that will believe that Giannis on their team puts them over the top. No worry about him leaving either, he’s got 4 more years left. Off the top of my head, Porter Jr + Murray + some picks is better than almost any package we can put together. I don’t see Giannis’s situation ever becoming a James Harden situation. He would have to really want to play with Dame and basically do everything that would be out-of-his-character to get here. Is Portland better than Milwaukie as a city?

Honestly, probably because Dame isn't about poaching. He may tell him what it's like here, but he doesn't seem the kind of guy who would try to have someone forced to go somewhere.

Plus a myriad of other reason.

Unless the new coach can get Dame to play up-tempo, why would a player like Giannis want to be #2 to a walk-it-up PG? He's at his best when he gets out and runs. He'd be better off forcing his way to Charlotte.

Not so different. If Bucks get quickly eliminated in the second round AGAIN despite what they thought was an upgrade to their roster, they may be interested in an opportunity to rebuild too. They gave away all their picks to New Orleans. In a trade with us, they could get those picks back plus talented vets and young players in CJ, Nurk, Ant, and Little.

Jrue/CJ/Middleton/Little/Nurk is a decent team going forward.

You totally disregarded my point about there being 4+1 years left on his contract .-. No team with a 2 time MVP entering the first year of a supermax would consider rebuilding.

Explain to me why Porter Jr, Murray, Morris and their 1sts aren’t as good as CJ, Nurk, Ant, Little and our 1sts? Our 1sts wouldn’t be much better than theirs.

    Orr...Zion, Lewis, Hart, and picks.

Murray/Holiday/Middleton/Porter Jr/Lopez or Holiday/Hart/Middleton/Zion/Lopez would be the decent team moving forward that you would want, not Jrue/CJ/Middleton/Little/Nurk LOL. Little barely even played in round 1, why is he a starting pf all of a sudden?

This is your comment but revised a little bit from a Bucks fan’s point if view:

“Not so different. If Blazers get quickly eliminated in the first round AGAIN despite what they thought was an upgrade to their roster, they may be interested in an opportunity to rebuild too. In a trade with us, they could get talented vets and a young player in Holiday, Middleton, and Divincenzo.

Jrue/CJ/Middleton/Covington/Nurk is a decent team going forward.”

They can at least make it out the 1st round. I don’t think they’re sweating about their star demanding a trade as much as us right now. If we’re not trying to rebuild after a string of 1st round exits, why exactly do you think the Bucks would think rebuild after a string of 2nd round exits?
