because yesterday was the first time that Olshey has been criticized for his roster building, player evaluations, free agent signings, or draft record
This is kind of what I would expect from this group; wait until Stotts is fired, hire a headhunting firm, come up with 20+ candidates. Run them by Jody to see if all are socially acceptable, then start narrowing them down. I would have preferred if they anticipated this firing months ago, hired some guy outside the organization to discreetly start picking brains of ex-players, ex-GM's, agents etc. about who would be good. Get it narrowed down even before Stotts is fired.
Wouldn't it make more sense this is for the now underway coaching search? But to answer your question, its like using a great realtor. They know about houses not actually on the market and act as a buffer in high stakes negotiations.
It's not what he's saying. It's how he's saying it. The guy is just extremely smug and combative. At least that's my opinion.
I'd imagine there's a big difference...? I mean, it seems logical that GM's and a GM's staff would have significant in-house criteria and process to apply in evaluating coaches but the business side of an NBA team might not have much process or criteria in evaluating necessary qualities for a GM maybe I have no clue either
it's some of what he's saying too. For instance that all fault was due to coaching and none on the roster and again, a pertinent question, that wasn't asked, is if it was all on the coaching, why did that only become apparent in the last 6 games Stotts coached for Portland instead of the first 776 games he coached
I absolutely refuse to let Olshey off of any hook, but I can testify that sentiment about Fentress is shared by all UofO fans
He said all fault was coaching not roster? Really..I remember him saying he wants to upgrade the roster, either/both starters and bench. Your disdain for Olshey is becoming similar to the guy who posts hate for the team every time they lose, forget his name
yes...he said that in terms of defense so what....he has said that 2 or 3 times a year, every fucking year, for 9 years. He said that very thing just before he went out and traded for Whiteside & Bazemore and signed Hezonja & Tolliver. Why is there suddenly more value in his boiler-plate rhetoric? really?...then it should be easy for you to cite what it is I have wrong about him. What I'm saying that is false. Enlighten me
Sorry if already posted.. https://www.blazersedge.com/2021/6/...onstruction-olshey-scapegoats-stotts-coaching Hollinger Points out the Flaw in Olshey’s “Product of the Roster” Comments The Athletic’s John Hollinger dissected a segment of the recent comments made by Trail Blazers President of Basketball Operations Neil Olshey.
I agree with him wholeheartedly that our defense should have been better than 29th in the league. You don’t? That’s strange to me. You hate the guy. We get it. It’s literally 90% of your posts. Seems like now would be a good time to maybe step away if it angers you this much.
or maybe you should step away from me if what I say bugs you so much and LOL...yeah right, I've said all along Blazer defense was fine (imagine green font)
