maybe they’re not as sensitive as you?

It’s funny, the majority on here will agree that Stotts was the primary reason for failure, but if the GM says it he’s an asshole.

I'm sure a top tier available coach is going to know that if the last coach was a shitty coach, the coach will be held accountable.

Not sensitive, high expectations and best opportunity, unlike you.

Are you crying just to cry? Portland is the best opportunity out of all the available jobs. It’s not often a consistent playoff team with a legit superstar has a job opening. The blazers also have a great culture, to the point that their underperforming head coach was able to keep his job longer than he deserved.

Quit your whining about coaches and GM's and just enjoy the game. Consider the coach openings and ones that will open after playoffs, many with great tradition and winning culture.

it's between us and boston for most desirable opening. But dame is the most coachable superstar in the league.

the only worries here are how committed dame is long term and any potential instability in ownership.

which is based off pure speculation. Any coaching candidate should know the answer to both of those questions.

i keep having to remind myself of how important it is to be patient here. I think we will wait until draft time or so before we make the hire. Was really happy to hear Neil will do his due diligence before interviewing/hiring (25 candidates is a lot).

I was under the impression that we want to get our candidate quickly with how many openings there will be, but Portland is near the top of the list for vacancies. We'll get who we want.

I want the Blazers to hire a coach who can work magic with Dame to help bring in a second star who is a good fit.

If that is Chauncey Billups, then I don't care that he would be a rookie head coach.

    huh? "work magic with Dame"...?

are they going to wave wands at each other and say 'abracadabra presto chango'

I'll have to try that with my E-150 van and turn it into a Tesla Roadster

I wonder who Billups would want on his staff. That may be just as important as who the head coach is. Hopefully if he gets the job he surrounds himself with experience, like Nash did.

    https://www.tmz.com/2021/06/08/richard-hamilton-chauncey-billups-portland-trail-blazers-coach/

Ex-NBA star Rip Hamilton says Chauncey Billups is gunning to be the next head coach of the Portland Trail Blazers ... telling TMZ Sports his good friend really wants the gig.

44-year-old Billups -- an assistant coach with the L.A. Clippers -- has been mentioned as a top candidate for teams in need of a new head coach this offseason ... including the Blazers and Boston Celtics.

Superstar Damian Lillard even listed Billups on his short wish list to replace Terry Stotts ... and Rip says the feeling's mutual.

"Me and Chauncey was actually just talking," Hamilton said on Rodeo Drive on Monday.

We asked if his old teammate told him he wants to coach the Blazers ... and Rip responded, "Yeah!"

"Chauncey wants to coach right now. Hopefully, he gets his opportunity."

Of course, the Blazers won't be able to reach out to the 2004 NBA Finals MVP until after the Clippers' season is over ... but The Athletic reports Billups is the "likely" choice to end up in Portland.

Rip has a message for the Blazers -- and pretty much the rest of the NBA -- saying, "Chauncey Billups is one of the best leaders that I've ever been around. I think he'll be great for whoever gets him."

Haha. It appears that a magic touch is required to recruit players to Portland. Dame performs all kinds of magic on a regular basis. If Dame combined with a particular coach can coax a player of need to Portland, that's the coach, and magic, I'm looking for.

As for your Tesla, I tried that once. All I got out of it was a used Ramblerghini.

I wouldn't go all the way there.

Likely based on speculation from sources outside orginizations though

My league source says hold onto your shorts deal coming soon.

It's a parks and rec league, but it's a league!

after my freshman season in college, I worked on a road construction crew in Eastern Oregon....east of John Day. I bought a Rambler Classic station wagon for 75 dollars and the damn thing worked. I put 35000 miles on it in two years to bump it well over 200K miles. My buddies would ride in it but it was a fucking chore to coax any gal to even consider getting near the thing (easier to blame the car than myself). It was ugly, but ran like a dream as long as you didn't want to street race. 3 speed with overdrive and I still remember filling up the tank when the price of regular was 24.9 cents/gal
