Feel like the only way we get value in dealing CJ, is that we get some way in the future asset that we get lucky on...
Send whatever picks NY wants to send out to HOU. This should work after NY gets under the cap in the summer. Bring back Zach and Norman using bird rights. Dame/ Simons Powell / Gordon Roco/ Little Wood / Jones Nurk/ Collins We also still have our MLE/ BAE to fill out the roster.
I think if NY sends out 2 picks, 1 should come here, and 1 to Houston. That Gordon deal is ugly for a guy who can't play much.
I've been thinking about the NYK situation, but I don't think they would add two picks on top of Toppin for CJ, at least not immediately. They can try signing someone with their capspace first before trading what is basically the equivalent of 3 first round picks for CJ McCollum. Just seems like bad value unless there's nothing else available out there.
I think you could do a whole lot worse than this, and I do think it improves the team in terms of versatility and depth if not overall talent. It may not be the homerun of which everyone dreams, but I'd take it if that's the best on the table.
Maybe I try to get more protections on the pick. And it's not the first trade I would run for, but if we were to sign Powell, I like a lineup of Lillard/Powell/Barnes/Roco/Nurk With Simons, LeVert, and COllins as our main 3 off the bench. I think the lineups give you a lot of switchability on defense. Powell could guard 1 through 3. Barnes and Roco can both guard 2-4. Collins(if healthy, ha!) gives us a good backup 4/5 that can play alongside Nurk in stretches, but also hold his own at the 5, especially against bench bigs. LeVert could play 2- small ball 4, and be a 6th man of the year candidate easily. And dishes out more assists than CJ does. His biggest drawback is his shooting. But Barnes and Powell in the starting lineup makeup for the loss of CJs shoting.
No way In giving up the best player in a deal as well as the best young asset (2023 1st) for a LeVert package.
Probably a good idea to move all the other trade threads onto this one? Some of this is getting hard to follow?
I just cannot see the Blazers parting ways with ROCO at this point. Not if they want to improve on defense? I also cannot see them giving up Nurk without seeing what a new coach can do with him and possibly Collins back in the rotation. Seems like a bunch of improvement can come with much less extensive moves?
I might prefer Lamb in that trade. Apparently injured this year but LeVert has not played more than 47 games a season in five years and Lamb the better defender, and a more efficient shooter.. But I wouldn't add any draft picks.
