Using Nate's reasoning the women's professional soccer league in the US is the best so we should count then as a pro league.

The US women are the best team in soccer and they all play for professional teams in the US.

    Same as the WNBA.

According to you if a US athlete doesn't play for a different league overseas that makes the leagues in the US the best in the world and if they're the best in the world that makes them a professional team and should be counted as such.

I said the best players in the world. I didn't say the best male or female players. The WNBA and the Women's pro soccer team don't have the best players in the world.

Are saying that the WNBA and NWSL will never count as a top professional leagues because men are better?

They will never have the viewership or revenue of those leagues, no. And unless the MLS starts stealing some top tier talent, they won’t either.

The NBA is not a men’s league. There’s nothing in the rules that you have to be a man to play in the NBA. If a woman came along and was good enough, I’d like to think she would be able to make a team.

Now you've switched from talent to revenue which is even a stranger argument.

So the top pro league sports by revenue are NFL, NBA, MLB, & NHL. MLS is after that. Now according to you, going by revenue, if MLS passes NHL in revenue 10 years from now we can not count the NHL as a top professional sport.

You've gone from saying MLS isn't a top pro league because better players play overseas to now they don't earn as much as the other leagues.

The best leagues make the most money, no? How else do you gauge success? How many people watch and how much money they make. Or is there another way to judge?

The MLS doesn’t have the best players so it doesn’t make as much money. Viewership is lower than the other four leagues. Similarly, women’s basketball and women’s soccer also does not have the best players in that sport. If the best basketball in the world was being player in the WNBA do you think viewership would go up? Or if all the best players in the NBA left for another league, do you think viewership and revenue would go down?

Talent and revenue go hand in hand. They are linked.

I think you could have the top players in the world play here and the MLS would still be last in US sport team revenue.

I think you’re wrong. I think it would easily pass the NHL and MLB.

The NHL is far behind the other big 3 in viewership and attendance. Their attendance is worse than MLS, and viewership isn't way higher. NHL is much closer to MLS than it is the others.

There's 34 MLS games, versus 162 for baseball(with bigger stadiums), and 80 something for NHL. It's near impossible to make up that gap in revenue lost from so many fewer games.

The NHL plays in arenas. Are you talking about per game or overall? The MLS plays in bigger venues, no?

As a veteran of the CSNNW and Pac 12 wars I’m not holding my breath.
Either “we want an ungodly amount” then “well we tried, email them wondering why we aren’t on there”

or provider lowballs them and then “call root asking why they aren’t in our service”

would really love to be wrong though obviously.
