Blazers need to hurry up and just sign Chauncey Billups as head coach. He’s going to be good

He means Lonzo I believe since the talk was about New Orleans. That's fair trade and fills a need for the Pelicans I think.

but it wasn't just Lonzo for CJ; it was Lonzo and a 1st

I think CJ is a far better fit for New Orleans than Lonzo so i would think they could be fine to give something extra. They desperately need a guard that can do things with the ball on his hands. They also have some late 1sts from Lakers and Bucks so I suppose he didn't mean they give us their 10th pick this draft. But yeah assumptions i m making.

If i was Pelicans i would be fine to give Lonzo+25th pick 2022 for CJ.

pelicans need to develop their young players right now, not compete for now

cj mccollum makes no sense for them or at least it shouldnt

Ranking the Available Jobs (w/o bias):

    1 - Boston
The Celtics and the Lakers are the two best jobs in the NBA. It doesn't hurt they have two stars, both under 25, to build around. Having a new GM who won't alienate his players by putting them in trade talks or isn't afraid to take a risk will help a new coach.

    2 - Portland
Any job that comes with coaching a Top 5 player in the league is a desirable one. Factor in the fan interest, being the only show in town, and a front office willing to go into the luxury tax to win now, elevates this job above the rest. Is there massive pressure to win and compete defensively each night? Absolutely.

    3 - Indiana
The Hoosier State loves its hoops, and the team is littered with talent still a ways a way from entering their prime. Under the right coach, these Pacers could be a top 3-4 seed in the East.

    4 - New Orleans
Here's the big disconnect. I don't think the Pelicans job is that desirable at all. Yes, Zion and Ingram are great building blocks, but the rest of the roster is a mess. Lonzo is likely leaving as a RFA and the contracts of Bledsoe and Adams are net negative value. Will the front office be willing to go into the tax or spend to compete? The Pelicans will always be second fiddle to the Saints in New Orleans. Also, there's already rumbling from Zion's camp published today in the Athletic that they want him out of NOLA. This isn't the rebuilding job many think it is. There's going to be pressure to win right away and do so with an imperfect and unbalanced roster.

    5 - Washington
There's not much separating the Wizards from the Magic, but I'll give the nod to Washington as they have Brad Beal and Orlando does not.

    6 - Orlando
I can't think of many worse jobs in the NBA (Sacramento, maybe?). Orlando is a team that perpetually tried to compete for a playoff spot and now the front office signaled a rebuild after the past trade deadline. Will the front office be patient with a long-term rebuild? Orlando's primary assets, Fultz and Isaac, are recovering from serious injury. This feels like a 5+ year rebuild and most coaches don't last more than 2-3 years in these situations. This situation in Orlando doesn't seem like it's set up for success.

Can't do nothing until the clippers are out of the playoffs.

Not sure about that. There is reports today that Zion is unhappy and wants to win now.

If Hammon was their choice she would be hired this week imo. Feels like they’re waiting on Billups or MDA

She also could be waiting for what shakes out with Milwaukee before making a decision. Or NO. That job just opened up yesterday.

didn't somebody here post that the hiring process was going to be at least 2 stages?

initial interview by Olshey. Then followup in-depth interviews that would include Jody Allen....?

if that's true, this will not be a quick process

Are you serious? After his 2nd year in the league? I find that hard to believe. If so he will be gone quicker than AD

If it’s MDA, Olshey should be fired on the spot. Hopefully the media will remind him of MDAs defensive shortcomings after his higher than thou presser preaching defense
