I need to get to the HDMI port so I can watch a DVD about peritoneal dialysis. My wife will have to do it because I can only stand a few seconds and my physical exertion is really bad as is my balance. I can't even explore ways of doing it because of my physical limitations I borrowed the DVD player about two weeks ago and need to return it soon. The tv is a Samsung.

Go to your office and put the DVD in your computer's disc player.

You can buy a dvd player with a built in screen for under 100bucks Lanny....you don't need to take your tv off the wall to watch a dvd...my HDMI ports are all on the side of my computers near the headphone jack

I didn't want to have to pay a hundred bucks to watch a 20 minute video.

    My favorite tool.
Good for any job and especially good at those highly frustrating tasks.

Yes and no. There are none along the outside side, however there is an inner side and that's the area I'm trying to access.

Are you talking about the TV I hung over your fireplace when you moved in?

If yes have Tammy get a flashlight and look on each side of the TV.

There should be an HDMI port one side.

Yes there are HDMI ports on the back but there still should be one or two on the side of the TV to make it easy for the exact situation you have.

Another idea, have you looked for the exact name of the DVD you want to watch in google and/or youtube? It's a medical treatment information video right? There is a very strong chance that that very video is on the internet and available for you to watch.

It was loaned to me by our dialysis unit social worker, you'd think he'd know that.

You might want to look for it. It would solve the HDMI problem.

Why not disconnect the hdmi into your cable or direct TV box or something in that cabinet (streaming box or Apple TV) and plug into the DVD player?

Lanny you get this figured out?

Another thought to avoid this issue in the future if you have another device to plug in is get an hdmi splitter box. Get the one end plugged into the tv and leave the box accessible and plug in all hdmi accessories into the splitter box.

No cabinet, the tv is wall mounted and there are no other video display devices around. Like I say, four tvs in the house but only one with HDMI and that's a Sly specialty wall mounted Samsung tv. Only the the wall mounted Sly specialty 48" Samsung wall mounted tv has HDMI.
I'm gonna try Sly's suggestion that there maybe other medical sources on the web that may have copies of the video. I just hope it's not some locally made video.
I also looked up on the web how to disconnect the tv from it's bracket and learned the bracket just might have a tilt feature that might allow me to access the inner side HDMI port. Gotta get this done by Tuesday when I have my next dialysis session on a weekday so I can finally return my social worker's DVD player which I've had for over two weeks.

If you have access to a library you can log onto one of their computers and watch the disc......even if you don't have a card you can use a guest pass
