If we hire her and she sucks I bet we are stuck with her for 3-4 seasons.

They let Udoka walk not that long ago too. Pop will coach until he keels over it looks like.

I'm all for Hammon getting a head coaching position, but I think it should be with a developing team where W/L don't matter as much in the moment. The Orlando job is perfect for that. There is a lot of pressure going into a situation where the team is immediately trying to win a championship.

So already sex differences are a factor in your mind? What you say may have merit, but on the flipside it might be one truism of many why hiring a woman to coach men at the highest level of male competition is a recipe for disaster. At least with MDA and Chauncey there is something to fall back on with their history in the NBA, but with Hammon there is nothing really backing it up except women's basketball experience and the motivated expressions of support from her ideologically expressive coach. It's not like I believe women are inferior minds, it's just a different dynamic that goes far beyond individual characteristics. Evolution coincides with socialization and it's not some blank slate, it's more akin to Jung's collective unconscious prescripted through years and years and years and years. This basketball is the closest natural man has to his nature of competition where stakes are high and all honorable things are bestowed but without the violence. It was an exception - that in the dirt where blood and death was the end result of competition and through years and years and years - for it to be a woman. She might be an exception. It might more easily implode and if not for the past six years of progressive dictate and mistakes, I might be more keen on seeing the worth in trying.

nah, not all. this was tongue in cheek.

see my commentary on this idea that it would be more difficult to fire her a few pages earlier-- i staunchly disagree that it will be a factor.

Billups feels the most like a Steve Kerr kind of hire.

A guy who won championships and can command the respect of the players.

Basketball is basketball if you watch the women play there more decipline how they play then the men. They actually move the ball and players actually moves without ball. The stars still can be stars with type of basketball. So hiring I coach like Hammon that pay her dues as assistant and as a player and think Dame already sign off the finalized. Plus there also more into coaching then X's and O's.

The Becky Circus is here. Note that the article doesn't say "Hammon and Billups". Note that they don't even get her name right:

Because it's coming from Shams, who doesn't have a direct line to Olshey. The Billups narrative is driven completely by Woj, and it's obvious why.

The silence on MDA has been deafening.

    Think he's headed to Dallas.

Neil will hire Becky to get league wide accolades and national pr strokes. I mean Oregon was the first with the bottle bill act. And assisted suicide.
We are TrailBlazers for a reason!

Still no one has told me Becky Hammon’s coaching philosophy or bonafides.
Is she in charge of the Spurs defense? Udoka left to take control of the sixers and nets defense.
Is she in charge of the offense?
What exactly is her role. I have no way of knowing what she is or is not responsible for.
At least with Billups we *know* what he is responsible for due to the article about PG.
