Becky was interviewed for the second time already, so Woj's report omitting her must mean that we have passed on her..... maybe?
Pretty much I’d still be interested to know what the deal is with Barry. If he got a second interview Woj isn’t really taking him seriously as a candidate.
Maybe Barry was brought in to get info on Hammon. I know if I’m interviewing someone and another candidate knows another, I’ll ask about them
Mda Billups Hammon, don’t even care who they hire among those three. I have my preference but would not be bummed about any of them. Now if they pull something outta left field and hire Carlisle imma be heated.
Anyone listen to windhorsts latest podcast? Some real nuggets. On Lillard and Billups... “Dame Lillard has been invested in the coaching search, I think there are certain candidates that he prefers. They’ve interviewed a number of candidates, I was told that he sat in on the interview for Chauncey Billups. It was virtual ... he joined the Zoom meeting, but it’s not a normal thing I think for players to sit in on that.” On Lillard’s loyalty to Portland... “I think Dame is still invested there, but I think before you’re trading CJ McCollum for places, I think Dame would like to make sure that like Norman Powell gets re-signed.” “I’m already seeing people say, “where is Dame going to get traded?”. I don’t think he wants to get traded anywhere. But it’s not just about the coach they hire, it’s about what they do and spend money on.” On roster fluctuation and uncertainty... “Nurkic is up for an extension, his contract is not guaranteed, I’m sure they will guarantee it. Will they re-sign Nurkic, will they pick up Nurkic’s extension and the trade him, will they re-sign Norman Powell, will they re-sign Zach Collins? There’s a lot of ifs there but, you know looking at a Ben Simmons trade, I’m sure, is on the menu.”
Have to imagine if dame sat in on the Billups call he would sit in on the other two. And if he didn’t you could pretty much write Billups down.
I don't think She'd is interested in coaching although I could be wrong. I know he's a villain in Portland but if you are talking ex Pistons, Laimbeer as assistant makes some sense. He has coached and could teach toughness.
If for no other reason, I would personally hire Laimbeer to tutor/mentor Nurk and teach him what it means to be tough. And not just be a paper tiger.
