Yeah, what's wrong with that? I hate a beauty pageant where the ugliest girl wins. Gimme babes in bikinis with tits that are spilling out and a beautiful athletic body. Far too many points are added because of a knowledge of world politics and how to play Mozart on the flute. I'm satisfied with a wish for world peace and some pretty fancy hula dancing for the extra points.
I couldn't care less whether or not Ms. Oregon is an intellectual. But when someone deliberately chooses to join an institution that has as one of its primary objectives promoting bigotry and discrimination against my community I care.
I could be wrong, but, as a private university, I think they teach against pre-marital sex as a whole, and don't recognize gay marriage. That said, I'm pretty certain if you were one of the Miss Oregon judges, you'd be voting for one of the other girls....and would definitely have that prerogative.
They don't just preach. They actively support antigay laws, go to court to overturn our rights. Not just marriage. Military service, child adoption, employment, housing, health care. They promote bigotry in every area of society. They were founded on racism and segregation. They oppose women's rights. They sent science. It's not just another college.
Against pre-marital sex unless they’re banging out Falwell’s wife. In front of Falwell. While Falwell tugs himself
There are certain absolutes that might be considered prejudice by some. That said, I don't tell my Creator how to run the show. Nor will I simply settle for someone else telling me how I should believe. We can agree to disagree, and that's fine...and probably best.
I didn't know this. Knowing this now, I agree. I'm pretty much against any kind of bigotry unless you're talking about the bigotry of hate.
I get so sick of saying I should accept that someone considers me a lesser human being because it's their sincerely held religious belief. How many LGBTQ people have been tortured and murdered because of someone's sincerely held belief? For that matter, to this day there are those who sincerely believe that Jews collectively are responsible for Romans killing Jesus. How many millions died for that sincerely held belief? Bigotry is not bad if it comes from you but good if it comes from your god. I have noticed religious people always ascribe to their gods their own views. Those who believe in equality and compassion say their god is compassionate and loves all equally. Those who are bigots say their god despises homosexuality, women's rights, people not of their faith, and views opposed to theirs.
I'd like to point out that our God is also your God if you consider yourself of the Jewish faith which by your adherence to kosher foods leads me to believe is probably true.
I do know Jews, Christians and Muslims all worship same God. My point is that people tend to ascribe their views to their gods.
Abigail ended up 4th runner-up in the Miss America pageant. Congratulations! https://www.missamerica.org/titleholders/2021-oregon/
