Every single Blazer fan I've spoken with outside the forum has said what the fuck. I'll quote one text which summarizes the tenor: "Why couldn’t they just hire one of the numerous qualified candidates that had never been under investigation for rape or domestic abuse? Doesn’t seem like it would be hard to do." In here, clearly, it's a different story. I'm also not from the suburbs.

Maybe in their eyes, Chauncey was the most qualified coach for the current roster.

But the hippie at the coffee shop probably knows better.

good point. I have to think ownership has brought in some sort of advisor/PR person to come up with a strategy for mr. manhattan.

Okay, fine, you win. Mock rape victims. Have fun.

And read the fucking details. There is no way in hell you can say he did not do it. That doesn't mean he did, but he was sued by the alleged victim's ex(?)girlfriend, one Antoine Walker (makes the money seeking liar claim seem a lot less credible but whatever), and his timeline and narrative don't align, and he paid her money. But innocent until proven guilty, I know, I know, because there hasn't been a long history of not believing women.

Can someone explain why so many people think hiring Billups means Dame will leave? He was one of his two names he liked. I don’t get it.

That was a quote from an electrical engineer. But he did used to have long hair and play in bands and we did used to drink coffee together a fair amount...

Here's the deal, if the team investigated the situation from 1997 and came to the conclusion that Chauncey was innocent and the team also thought that Chauncey was the best candidate, then the move that takes character and ethics is to hire Chauncey and deal with the aftermath. The easy and unethical thing to do is go with a different coach, that you don't believe is as good, so you can avoid doing some PR work.

Welcome to Portland Chauncey, your wife and all 3 daughters as well as your extended family! I have no doubt you will become a valuable member of ripcity and the Portland area quickly. We have a great culture here and hopefully you can make our guys two way players!

It was the Billups bashing. Calling everyone who was cool with it a rape apologist. It already eliminated Kidd from consideration

The community at large is much more focused on surviving the apocalyptic heat wave. I imagine most are unaware of any controversy or have given it little thought.

All indicators is that Dame hand a hand in choosing Billups over the other candidates that were brought to him. But that doesn’t mean he can’t get pissed at the fans attacking him for being a part of that decision.

I honestly think Dame didn't want to be coached by Hammond because she's a woman. Maybe I'm off base, but just a hunch.

Billups and Kidd were PGs he looked up to and he feels he can thrive under either of them.

Actually, I went out of my way not to mock her. I respect her cause and her constant fight. I honestly think Canzano inserted her quote for his own purpose. Either way, if you want to help the cause (or any cause) you don't crucify someone in the media without knowing all the facts. I am sure his daughters are going to love going to school in Portland where he has already been labeled as a rapist.
