He knew he was getting the Mavs job before Dame's endorsement. Simmons and Rusillo mentioned that the Blazers were willing to interview Kidd on their podcast, Kidd pulled out because he had the Mavs job, and Rusillo usually doesn't mention shit like this unless he's sure of his source.

You not eat your wheaties, today?

You cited an article with zero sources, whose only basis was a linked article that had zero sources.
Now, Brian, who I respect, btw, contacts his actual fucking sources which clarifies the situation completely, and you mock it?

i guess i would just think that after the last four years of our presidency (and of course years before that) we would be more aware of how the media works than taking things too seriously, not doubting the accuracy of their reporting. not all media is bad or wrong, but damn, its a fairly high percentage. these people are wrong as much as they are right.

All I'm saying is you can find a way to twist and turn everything into an argument about Olshey. That's fine, I hate Olshey as much as anymore. I just side eye when you go out of your way to make reaches like this.

exactly. It didn't really say that he wanted them/demanded them, but of the list he was like "yeah, those are good"

But like I said earlier (somewhere? maybe this thread, who knows)... controversy sells.

    that's not the point

the tweet makes it seem Kidd's name mention by Dame caught the Blazer FO by surprise. But Kidd was obviously talking to Portland about the job (otherwise, he wouldn't have had to withdraw his name) so why would the FO be surprised that Dame mentioned a candidate they were talking to?

come on man, that was a throwaway sentence in a ~1500 word article. just because realgm decided to make it a headline doesn't mean it's that important.

i wonder what would happen if he ran into Olshey in public. the level of hate is kinda insane tbh. you'd think Neil stole his wife and ate his children

he said they were willing to interview Kidd, not that they actually were talking already. It’s entirely possible Dame asked for Kidd, the Blazers were surprised but willing to entertain Dame, and then Kidd withdrew.

According to Dame, he was shown a list and those were the two names he liked the most. He didn't know their past scandals and I'm doubting that list had DV on it.

Unsurprisingly the Blazers public trashing of Hammon has made national news. I am quite willing to accept that the team thinks Billups is best fit even though he wasn't my first choice. I am willing to wish him luck and hope all goes well. But the proper professional action is praise the candidate they chose. Thank the others for their time and wish them luck. Not openly sabotage someone's future. That is unprofessional, classless, and the fact that it was only done to popular female candidate makes it worse. That is not how you cool things down or win people over. The organization created yet another distraction and made themselves look bad. Some of us care about public perceptions of the Blazers. Unfortunately it seems Blazers PR department doesn't.

People really think the Blazers FO leaked this to bleacher report of all places to save face?

    I just can’t…..

rather, i think Chris Haynes mentioned Kidd and Billups specifically and asked what Dame thought about them. Haynes has no insight or tact, he just throws shit on a wall. With him currently in LA, obviously Kidd/Chauncey were fresh on his mind.

And Dame responded, "sure they sound cool."

And Haynes proceeded to blow that up into articles.

How this hack has such a huge following I will never understand. He continues to be a horrible writer and zero intelligence about the game or its history.

We have been roasting Neil for years because he does not want to trade any of his guys. (and that he runs a tight ship) Now all of sudden he is looking for a way to trade Dame? And he is trying to make him look bad as a way to justify it? And Bleacher report is the source? I personally don't believe anything on the internet that does not have an actual person's name as the source. (unless of course, it is MM's Pizza guy)

But none of this adds up or is credible. Trust me I could care less if Neil stays or goes, and I hate having to defend him, but to me, this is just the internet hacks looking for traffic, and the best way to do that is to throw as much shit at the wall and see what sticks. Some of whom btw have said for years they think Dame should be in a bigger market.

    I'm unclear what you're arguing

here is the timeline as I understand it: the Blazer front office gave Dame a list of potential head coaching candidates. Jason Kidd's name was on that list. The FO was "surprised" that Dame named Kidd before Vanterpool....OK

    but why leak it now?

Jeez, is it entirely possible to you that many of these sources are second hand, and details are lost between the game of telephone being played. These aren’t first hand accounts of what happened, not to mention the sources from each conflicting report is probably different. Isn’t that way more likely than some conspiracy that Olshey is planting the seeds to oust Dame???

Also somewhat related on this topic, but Dames posture that was completely hands off in the coaching search is horsewash to me. There is clear damage control in the Haynes report, not that I give a shit, he doesn’t have to answer to the fans unrealistic expectations of him.

It's almost like people have become accustomed to just believing anything they read online as long as it fits their narrative.

Pissed off at the Blazers? Well then, why WOULDN'T you believe that they threw Hammon under the bus to bleacher report of all places. People just believe everything they read, regardless of the source. This wasn't the Oregonian. This wasn't a local radio show. This wasn't Woj. This was fucking Bleacher Report. BLEACHER REPORT.

Side theory - what if Bleacher Report schmuck was trolling blazer forums and saw Calvin's rumors?
