You've got to start sometime and then let a long time lapse for guns to slowly disappear. I don't see any other way.
The Chinese can wait a long time and so should we.

We can't stop crazed people unless we have Law Enforcement become Pro Active. Instead of targeting black people as they did, center focus has to be on deranged morons that think they have they 15 minutes of glory. These radicals are like Vultures and the cops should treat them as such. Since this couple was captured due to the diligence of an employee, he should be rewarded monetarily and the depraved sent to a stay on " Shutter Island" where they would never be seen again.

Something like 42% of households own guns.

You can't stop idiots from getting guns in the US. You can make a gun with $20 and an afternoon trip to home depot. Or a $300 3D printer.

Cats out of the bag in the US. Gun control can't work and no gun control law has ever shown to significantly reduce violent crime or murder rates anywhere in the world (at least, not that I've found).

Both Australia and the United Kingdom enacted strict gun control in the 90s while the US let the Brady bill expire and doubled the number of guns.

US violent crime and murder rates have dropped as much or more than both countries.

Violent crime and murder are a product of socioeconomic conditions, not the availability of hardware.

If I had to choose, I'd rather be shot to death than bludgeoned to death with a hammer.

Gun control is just a wedge issue to rile up both bases and a way to waste political capital that could otherwise be spent on solving the socioeconomic challenges which actually make people viilent.
