This is quite a bad look for Blazer "woke" twitter. They're incapable of absorbing new information, or contradictory information, and are full on social just warrior mode. The woman herself could come out and say that he didn't do anything, and they'd still find a way to hate on Olshey, Billups and somehow still sell crappy drawings they did.

Guilty until proven innocent. And then they are still guilty.

The DA himself said he believed that Chauncey didn't rape her. This just screams "no, look here!! Wait, no here!'

I'm not speaking for what actually happened with Billups. But there may be some credence to the whole investigation by the team thing being a sham. They were not very thorough for whatever reason (likely because they thought it wouldn't be as big of an issue). I still maintain that this thing dies down when the season starts, but the way Olshey handled the whole situation was garbage.

sorry, this is an unmitigated disaster. i was rationalizing the press conference as olshey being olshey, but his handling of this has been piss poor. even if Chauncey is completely innocent, even the appearance of the team not being transparent and forthcoming paints him as guilty.

between this and the leaking of the hire to Woj on a Friday to throw Dame under the bus, he needs to go.

I feel like calling up the accuser is pointless. It's he said/she said and she has already given statements about what happened. I don't see how that's such a big point of contention.

Talking of whom - I read that they never followed up with the accuser in the investigation, which seems mind-boggling.

    They being the Blazers?

what exactly would she say now that she didn't already say? What new things could she say that would make a difference?

Why? What could be gained? What exactly could she say that would change things 20+ years later?

And on the flip side, what would that say if you called up the accuser and (not in so many words) said "we're going to pay this guy another few million dollars, but we wanted you to relive your horrible experience one more time for posterity."

Jane Doe's lawyer literally said they don't want to comment on it.

    1. Probably some NDAs involved here.
    2. Stop scratching old wounds.

All this to make overzealous journalists and Blazer fans feel better about the hire?

She could, y'know, exonerate Billups. Which was supposedly the point, I thought?

"Jeez, isn't a guy allowed to rape somebody just ONCE, TWENTY-FOUR YEARS AGO?"

Not saying he did, but unless you mean something like the above, you seem to know with iron certainty that he didn't.
