Zombie Damian Lillard to request trade in coming days (nope, he's not.)

How can we trust the Oregonian this time?

 

Legacy is a huge thing. Dame is about to own the scoring record as well as many others in Blazers History. I still believe that is a major achievement for him. To be the greatest in something is a pretty awesome achievement. To be considered the Greatest Blazer is an amazing accomplishment. I still think that means a ton to Dame. Go elsewhere and that goal is toast. He may, not a guaranty, be able to win a title with another franchise. But to be the BEST in a franchise's history, is pretty damn powerful. You're just a hired gun if you go elsewhere.

 

I know what i wrote like 30 min ago but that was before I heard about this meeting ... now I still believe IF he asks for a trade it will be next offseason BUT this does get me a tad nervous but i still believe in Dame and the fact he will give it one more year.

Fentress sucks, no doubt. That said, it's hard to imagine self-respecting journalist -- or news agency, for that matter -- would post a story refuting another, unless they were fairly certain that their report was accurate.

 

If Dame doesn’t want a trade he needs to be real clear about it in this press conference. Kill the rumors for the whole offseason with one press conference, please dame

 

Okay this is kind of funny.

 

he probably can't and won't do that.

if the whole intention is to put pressure on Neil, he can't completely backtrack on the threat of a trade request.

 

Because maybe he already requested one. Or maybe he didn't. Maybe he's just going to trade himself without requesting one. My sources are telling me something's going to happen. They might be close to Dame. They might not. And the something that happens might or might not have to do with Dame. Do your sources have better info?

 

This isn't my opinion but a scenario I thought of when I saw the Oregonian report. Abbott talks to someone in Dame's inner circle yesterday who says that Dame is going to demand a trade. Fentress talks to someone with the Blazers that says that there has been no trade demand and there will not be a trade.

 

the pressure is already on Neil and Neil knows that.

 

Does this meeting not sound a lot like the one where Dame flew over to LA or something to meet with Aldridge to try and convince him to stay?

 

exact same thing i thought of. hopefully we aren't at that stage yet and dame gets the reassurance and commitment to winning that he's seeking.

In this day and age, nothing would surprise me. But again, I would have to think that you'd double or triple check sources if you're coming out and saying "this other story is wrong"... Not something you'd want to be the one being wrong about...
