This was written in late January so don't know how he finished, but:
"Nance is the league leader in steals per game, averaging a career-high 2.5. He has a better steal average than former Defensive Player of the Year Kawhi Leonard (2.1).

Aside from that he is also the league leader in deflections per game with 4.9 and second in loose balls recovered per game with 1.6.

Nance currently has a defensive rating of 104.7. That’s a big improvement from his last year’s defensive rating of 113.0. He also has a 50.0% Defended Field Goal Percentage and 63.1% Field Goals Defended at Rim Percent."https://ballers.ph/features/larry-nance-jr-has-been-a-defensive-beast-this-season/

Yeah, he did really well playing the 4 fulltime last season. He was also hurt quite a bit though, missed half the season. But I think having him, you could start him at 4 and he can also play backup 5 and he would finish games for you at the 5.

Him alone probably doesn't change the outlook of your team though. So I'd still be looking to package CJ+RoCo for a true upgrade.

I realize that, but in this particular series you didn't see Crowder scoring inside much and it hurt them I think.

I'm beginning to think if Blazers can make a deal for Simmons with CJ, you do it. Simmons wants to put last year behind him, and a new team is a good way to start. If Neil can make that deal, and re-sign Norman, the Blazers are in business. Simmons as a defensive/play making Power Forward, along side Nurk, Roco, Powell, and Dame is a pretty damn good line up. Hopefully add a Josh Hart type, and with the continued development of Nas & Ant, that's a pretty good 8. Obviously backup Center must be addressed, and another quality dead eye shooter off the bench is a must. But that team looks pretty good. It wouldn't be bad for CJ either. I think he could breakout to another level on his own next to Embiid. I'm onboard after seeing how important the frontcourt is to playoff success.

I can't believe this got missed. Haynes basically insinuated that the Blazers would be interested in Simmons, but not at the cost of CJ. I dunno how plugged in Haynes is with the Blazers, but he's fairly close to Dame, and if this is the type of information being relayed to him I truly have no hope for Olshey.

I'd REALLY like to know where this info is coming from...
Ben >>> CJ - and it's not close IMO.

If I am Neil that is exactly what I would have someone tell Haynes. What does he have to lose? Morey appeared to try to raise Simmon's value by saying he would not trade him, then word came out that maybe he would for Dame. Neil tries to raise CJ's value by saying "sure we will take Ben...... but not for CJ"

I know some think Neil will never trade CJ......but I think that is ridculous. Not sure if Morey wants CJ, but it seems to me someone is using Haynes.

Neil talking up Norm and for the first time ever minimizing CJ's role in the presser after firing Stotts was telling. The fact that Dame hasn't been talking about CJ is extremely telling. It's obvious that the ship has sailed on the idea that Dame and CJ are the cornerstone of this team. If CJ isn't part of that, then he's got to go because he's being paid like he is.

I think the Haynes stuff is posturing and I am hoping that not only has Neil realized that CJ isn't the second star next to Dame that will help him win a chip but that Neil has also become more realistic about CJ's value overall because if he hasn't how can a trade happen? If Neil calls every GM in the league shopping CJ but wants return on CJ to be the same as an all nba player then there won't be a trade.

So despite the fact that I think Neil now thinks that CJ has to be moved for a more complementary piece, I still think Neil's pride could fuck this thing up.

Ben is younger and has more athletic gifts so he'll be perceived by most to have more value and therefore we would be required to add a pick or picks or Ant or Nas. Neil may not be of the mindset that Ben's youth and athleticism make a difference when the numbers you just posted paint a story of parity. So that could be the hold up.

I do hope Neil just gives as many picks as needed and makes the deal happen.

cant believe I did this but I did a little digging. Couldn’t find that specific pic, but I found this. Looks like the same sneakers, arm sleeve, etc.

I think we’re a little crazy tho, don’t think he chose that pic because Simmons was guarding him lol.

This was arguably CJs best year while being a 'typical' year for Ben.

Having said that, Ben has a significant advantage in most of the other metrics - including TS%, REB%, AST%
