If we’re going full rebuild mode I’d say Simmons. If we’re finding another star to compliment Lillard I say Siakam
ben has a far higher ceiling, and most likely a higher cost to acquire. and if we truly want a chance at becoming a contender w/dame, you give up all that's required to put those two together.
Ben Simmons is better at everything besides shooting and I know shooting is a big deal. That being said, he is one of if not the best defender in the league. He is so skilled as a passer and ball handler on offense. He can get to the basket and score anytime he wants to. He's just an athletic freak for his size. He's 25 and has room to improve. He has the dexterity and finesse to learn how to shoot the basketball.
the asking price for simmons has been ridiculous thus far. there is no doubt simmons is a better player, but the premium they are asking for him is more than the difference.
This is a terrible poll for me because I cannot stand Simmons. I know he’s a good player. I cannot wrap my head around not being able to shoot a basketball for a guy of his skill, athleticism and age. There is simply no excuse. I would throw my tv out a window the first time the blazers were up 5 and he was being intentionally fouled and they lost. At least with Shaq…it was freaking Shaq. I also know someone who works with the Sixers (I said this earlier) who confirms that he isn’t very coachable and has his family and friends too in his ear.
They aren't getting the proposals they've been floating out there. If you've noticed they've been reported to be flat turned down... not even counter offered because they are so far away from being what is realistic. Simmons has a lot of great things going for him and he would be more expensive than Siakam but a Harden type of haul would be for a perennial all nba player who has been an MVP or in the MVP conversation. That's not Ben Simmons. Also as much as Philly would love everyone to get selective amnesia, that's not happening. Their relationship with Simmons is not salvageable or at the very least does hurt his trade value.
No his inability to shoot makes absolutely no sense... none. He has the dexterity, he is an accurate passer, he's extremely coordinated. He should be able to shoot the basketball and most teams should expect that they can fix that but Philly can't tout that on their side of trade offers because they haven't done it.
Siakam is a much better player, proven, doesn't crack under pressure, unfortunately we're not getting him.
they are definitely acting like we just didnt watch him capitulate n flounder when it mattered most. we may get into fire sales territory, but i guess the question is around do we have a package to get either of the options? dame seems to love CJ and that pairing is in direct contradiction to his demands to improve the team - i wonder if he's willing to let go of the player loyalty to enable some changes. even then, does CJ get it done in a trade as far as value? i think im mostly jsut resigned to the liklihood that nothing much changes and dame throws some toys regardless and wants to split.
Maybe that was a lame attempt to show him how much they appreciate and value him after all the disrespect and slander?
No, it's an obvious attempt to drive up his trade value. Players don't give a fuck about what some reporter says the team requested for them. They just know their team is trying to get rid of them, regardless of what they're asking for in return.
