This is where I'm at. If the question is purely "who would you prefer in a vacuum", I think the answer is Simmons by a good margin. But I can certainly see Siakam as an upgrade as well, there are worse consolation prizes to be found, for sure.

I see where 1080 The Fan is asking this very question on twitter as of a few minutes ago.....

I knew they came here for their information.

    Same "sauces" as Henry Abbott.

I don't really follow the EC, but somewhere or other I got the impression that the Raptors weren't real happy with Siakam?

Siakam. 100%. Also a good passer tbh. Then sign Winslow for minimum, and hope he can bring defense and passing .. and present a budget lidl version of ben simmons while not falling apart halfway the season.

Morey and Neil are in a conundrum. Both need to shake things up to appease their Biggest stars. The quality trade partners for a player to complement said stars are drying up. I think Simmons gets traded for CJ. There may be some players added going back & forth , and a draft pick thrown in, but i think it gets done.

the biggest 'yeah, but...' about that is I'd say there would be a much bigger market for Simmons after the demands from Morey becomes realistic than there will be for CJ

CJ is still the right fit and Simmons will be a gamble until his next playoff performance goes well. CJ plus all of the picks they want should get the job done and we should all be cool with that because it shows Dame urgency and with Dame on the fence, we're in good a place to gamble.

I truly believe that CJ’s value + Nurkic’s value are significantly increased when traded as a tandem:

CJ = non all-star trade value
Nurk = non all star trade value

CJ + Nurk = gets us an All Star player in return

but if this were our best package, we’d have to obtain an All-Star caliber center in return:

    KAT

for the Blazers, i believe we have a better chance at a title with KAT than with Nurk + Simmons or Nurk + Siakam

I am not that high on the center position. To me, that is the position you can get away with a "committee".
Mainly because of our history with injuries at that position....I just don't want to have to rely on one to make or break our season.

I would take Dame, NP, Little/RoCo, Zeller, and Siakam starting 5.

Yep and I think we need another shooter to get this trade done. Someone in the mold of Portis at the 4/5. The Blazers get the better player but will be taking the bigger risk and having a player they need to build around in a very specific way. I believe the McLemore signing is quite important despite seeming like a footnote it shows that A) we will be moving CJ and/or Ant and B) that we are emphasizing shooting on a team bursting at the seams with shooters. Where’s the defensive improvement? The answer to me is a Simmons for McCollum swap is being worked out, but Neil wisely wants Portis or similar to ensure Simmons is surrounded by 3-4 shooters at all times.

I'm confused by what you're attempting to say here, especially considering Portis has already re-signed with Milwaukee.

nooooo! I missed that. Well this is awful news. Replace Portis with a shooting big. What shooters are left at the 4/5? God Do we make a run at Meyers Leonard? Not the Leonard I wanted this offseason lol.

I would love to have Kat but there is no way we could get him for Nurk and CJ. He is 25 years old and the cornerstone of their team. They don't need CJ and they don't need Nurk.

Snell and McLemore, both quite one dimensional shooters probably imply a non-shooter coming in (Simmons)

I think the trade that will happen is Simmons but the trick to making it happen is to have a Siakam trade on the table. So Neil figures out and has the parties involved ready for a Siakam trade, probably a three team trade. Neil then calls Morey and tells him that he has a Siakam deal agreed to in principle so we're going to appease and keep Dame and Philly will not have a shot at him. Then he makes his final offer for Simmons... which should be CJ and maybe DJJ and as many picks/swaps as it takes. If Morey declines, that's fine I'm sure the price for Siakam will be lower and he fits better in the front court with Nurk anyway.

Simmons is the only one out of the two that has chance to be a superstar but Siakam can be a perennial all star. If Nas and Ant pop we could be contenders.

For the record I do not think it takes CJ, DJJ, Ant and Nas to get Simmons... let alone adding picks to the situation. It might take CJ, DJJ, Ant (if they're into him) and a couple of picks. I think given one of the rumored proposals from the Sixers that got turned down that Morey would love to have control of the entire draft future of a team and a solid player. Well CJ is more than a solid player and fits the Sixers' needs perfectly. I don't know why we wouldn't give Morey three picks and four swaps with CJ for Simmons. I don't think the Bucks are kicking themselves for giving up their draft freedom for Holiday.
