Norm was a free agent...and he joined us on the fly with a rusty Nurk and no training camp...Norm was the big signing ..he didn't have to sign here..they have let Melo and Kanter walk which opens up the bench for better defenders...got rid of mr broken ft Collins and signed a two way big man in Zeller..and we have added vets to the bench...that's not treading water not to mention blew up the coaching staff...I think we'll be better and Melo is treading water in LA and Enes in Boston..

I hope you’re right, of course, but I don’t see a chance in hell of Portland getting to the finals this year, much less winning a title. And that’s all that matters. Lillard is on the verge of walking and I can’t blame him. Olshey seems incapable of building a championship team around him.

In my opinion with the Nets and Lakers stacked...28 teams are going to have to be extremely lucky to win a chip this season..I have no doubt Dame knows that...I'm set on enjoying seeing what Chauncey and the new staff can develop on the two way side of basketball....I think getting deeper in the playoffs would be success unless the Lakers and Nets have injury issues like last season...we've got two more roster spots to fill and hopefully we'll be a deeper bench with team that can not only hold a lead but build on one. What I don't like seeing is the fanbase turn against the team...Blazers edge did a bang up job with that when we hired Chauncey...now the Neil torches are fired up here 30 times a day by a half a dozen members who are not only against the front office but against fans who are not joining the doom and gloom parade....like I said...I sure don't want to end up cheering for the Kansas City Blazers because of a flood of negative affirmations.....on paper the Lakers and Nets are stacked....if healthy...nobody in the league argues that...

When you look at the jumps the Suns and Hawks made last season it should be obvious that teams don't have to just roll over and accept their fate. Who on those teams is better than Dame? The small market Bucks took their one outstanding player and built a championship roster around him. The notion that either the geriatric Lakers or always injured Nets are locks for a title and no one else should bother trying just frustrates the hell out of me!!

They would roll over and accept it if their starters snapped legs of and broke bones like ours did....we lost Zach Nurk and CJ ..3 starters...to injury for big chunks of a season or in the case of Zach and Nurk...for a couple seasons..big difference..Hawks hired Nate mid season and turned it around...they and the Suns didn't have a contender for many, many seasons until recently..Booker is a hell of a franchise player as is Trae Young...they weren't lacking starting talent to get where they did...both franchises have excellent coaches,,,we fired Stotts and hired someone we think might make us a better two way team...I think he will

agree, and the Lakers are very old. If we can beef up a few areas and stay healthy why couldn't Dame leads us into contention.

Because Dame and CJ won’t play defense. Dame won’t play defense for Gregg fucking Popovich while trying to win a gold medal. What makes you think he’ll start now? We know with Pop it’s not lack of scheme

Agree that CJ isnt a good defender and Dame nit much better. Lets see what happens under Chauncey and if we can add a defending power forward as I thunk thats as weak as the back court has been.

No, it is Pop’s scheme that is the issue. He has them switching everything, which results in Dame getting switched onto much bigger players. “Trying” has little to nothing to do with Pop’s decision to go with Holiday in the 4th quarter. He’s bigger, stronger and much better able to switch without giving up much. I see zero evidence that Dame isn’t trying.

Really?? You sound like one of those Blazer fans who’s been mired in mediocrity for so long that you’ve lowered your expectations. This team has not won a title since 1977. Nothing short of that will ever be a successful season to me. I’m sick of watching teams like the Lakers and Celtics and Warriors and Heat win multiple titles while Portland limps along like an also-ran year after year.

nah...I want to see another championship sure...I just think this season with a rookie coach 28 teams will be playing for the bronze if they stay healthy...I saw us win a championship which sure, makes me old as dirt but I enjoy basketball without that pressure cooker over the team...I can find something to enjoy in one qtr of a game....I think we can usually beat any team in the league when we play well...right now we have no way to gauge how we'll play...or the Lakers or Nets but I'm well aware of the talent they've got compared to 28 other teams...maybe this is the year Lebron and KD dropoff...Harden loses his shot...but I don't expect to win a championship next season but I do expect to enjoy the team and if they beast 20 games in then I'll get excited about getting a shot at the title. Mediocrity isn't the right descriptor when stacked against unrealistic expectations...Dame knows where we are...probably would say the same thing but that doesn't make him want to be mediocre..hell I don't even know who's going to be on the team come tipoff at this point

IMO the Lakers got worse. Won’t contend for a title. The Nets are by no means a lock even if they avoid injuries.

I spent way more time than I would admit trying to understand what "But there's been Neil Olshey player traded that we missed out on or should've traded for" meant

No, he’s not. Other teams are finding him and attacking him. It’s literally their plan

I’m glad you can enjoy a good quarter. We have a few of those every season, and then we always say, “Wait till next year.” Been doing that for 45 years.
