You and I will never agree, but Gallo is a fuckkng waste. Since joining the Yankees (because who gives a fuck what he did before…we can talk about how great Stanton was before he came here too. All that matters is what they’ve done in pinstripes), Gallo is 6-37 with 18ks and 6BB. 1 home run, 3 RBI, 10 LOB. He wasn’t worth as much as we gave up regardless of what you say. We gave up a 2B and a SS that WERE in fact both top 10 prospects in the updated prospects list. It is what it is, but Gallo is a fucking disaster and a HUGE waste of an AB. The only way that trade makes sense is if Cashman doesn’t bring Rizzo here or had no plans to. Every game we see Gallo doing the exact same shit as Stanton and now Voit. Swing and miss constantly and swing out of his shoes too.
I have no idea why you felt the need to quote me...I didn't say a word about Gallo. But since you decided to arbitrarily interject him into this thread I will only say that your obviously myopic disdain for him is entertaining.
Because you’re the only person I have seen that defends Gallo as being a worthwhile acquisition when he’s been a disaster with the bat. With the glove he’s been great. So like I’ve said all along, we gave up 4 good to great prospects for a defensive replacement.
Just because Gallo is a lefty bat doesn’t mean he’s worthwhile. That’s the equivalent of saying Luetge is worthwhile because he’s a lefty pitcher, but we all know Luetge is absolute trash. And there is nothing shortsighted about my displeasure about what we gave up for him. If anything, you are the one being shortsighted. You are the one thinking it was a great move to trade away future position players (4 to be exact) for a .211 hitter who has hit .162 since joining us. Sorry if I’m not happy about that trade. 55, none of the prospects we gave up were good to great. We kept our top 5 prospects and the way they’ve looked so far we can add Gil and riding to that list. Gallo is a good ballplayer who is off to a slow start here. But he is excellent defensively with a great arm and just threw a runner out at the plate. I think he’ll come around offensively for us. Speaking of prospects when do we junk the Gardner, Allen and Johnson trio and bring back Florial and play him every day in cf. he’s looked good every time he’s come up
See, this is where everyone stops looking at in season rankings. Pre season rankings none were in top 10, but as of the trade both Duran and Smith were top 10 according to Baseball America redoing the rankings mid season. That’s a lot to give up for a .211 hitter who is a great defender simply because he’s a lefty. Gardener is officially fucking up our future players too because Florial should be up here as should Allen over Davis.
