Fallacy. Simmons has NEVER shot the ball his entire career because he's scared to. I'm tired of repeating that the man was seeing a psychologist for it... In that particular series, he was was gameplanned for WELL. His shooting anxieties are well documented throughout his entire career...
This doesn't make much sense seeing as how if we did trade Dame (we're not) we would get Simmons, not Draymond.
Any team would have to use Ben Simmons like a Dennis Rodman...not looking to score much but defending like a mofo....problem is his price is one of a superstar who can shoot and close a game
I'm not saying it's impossible, I just was disagreeing with Nate that that podcast he did with Durant was essentially him writing his ticket out of town. I think there's reason to believe Golden State would want Simmons as a Green replacement: he's much younger, he's longer and more athletic (and they've been outspoken about wanting more of both on their team), he gives them a potential bridge between their current aging core and their developing young one. But there's also reason to believe Golden State wouldn't want to trade Green, even if they do want Simmons: they don't play the same role, even defensively. Simmons is a multi-positional stopper, like a bigger Kawhi Leonard. Green, while he's good at defending all the positions, isn't a stopper--he's a defensive quarterback, who's a genius at sniffing out what the opposition is doing and getting teammates in the right place and putting himself in the best place to disrupt it. Simmons would give Golden State a new weapon, but he wouldn't replace what Green gives them. There's also team chemistry--I think Curry is tight with Green and Green has been the emotional heart of that team through their championship years. It's damn hard to trade that player away, just from the political side of things. If that trade were put in front of Golden State, I think they'd look hard at it, but I don't know if they'd accept it. I think it would be a tough call to accept it or to decline it.
No, Green won't age well into his 30's like Steph, Klay, Dame. He is an energy guy and defensive force. Think of Ben Wallace on the Bulls.
People don't understand how he was being disrespectful. If I went around publicly saying that I laughed in my bosses faces, it wouldn't go well for me.
You're right but I'm still saying that the Warriors know who they're dealing with and basketball is not a normal business. This wasn't something that has to mean anything... it could and maybe the Warriors will want to trade him now but after all of these years of the guy saying outlandish shit I very highly doubt this is the breaking point. They'll just chalk it up to Dray being Dray and if they weren't already trading him, they won't.
That's just another day for Draymond Green. The Warriors know him pretty well by now, they're not going to be in their feelings about that comment. If they were that intolerant of his personality, he'd have been out a long time ago. I live in the Bay Area and see/hear pretty much everything Green says publicly--no one familiar with the team batted an eye over that comment as it's pretty typical Dray. As long as Green plays hard and isn't disruptive to the team--and his teammates don't seem thrown by his antics--he's basically like Dennis Rodman on the Bulls: maybe he engenders exasperation at times, but they can work with him.
Draymond went nuts on KD, a guy the front office was afraid of losing after the season. They were NOT in a good place as a team after Draymonds meltdown. Myers and Kerr wasn’t to do whatever they could to appease KD. So they suspended DG. Now two years later those two go blame Kerr and Bob.
That's silly. Simmons can drive very well and Simmons can create open shots for others. A better analogy is young Jason Kidd. You tell Simmons he has to be Dennis Rodman and he'll just sit out. Simmons is tricky because he has enormous talent that you can only exploit by putting the ball in his hands. But of course he's developed a mental block about shooting. (What is it with Philly? Fultz could score fine before he went there, too! It's where shots go to die.) Simmons has physical gifts Draymond can only dream of. Draymond is remarkable because he's a defensive savant. (And has also benefited by being surrounded by the greatest shooters in history - check out the season he wasn't...) But he also can't shoot for shit - his shot has been getting worse and worse as time goes on. Also, he's pretty unathletic and he's getting on in years. I'd sooner not try to turn into the poor man's Lakers, loading up on other teams' aging legends. Oh, and let's cut out the "weak-minded" shit and psychological insults. That's the mental-health equivalent of the R-word - let's try to drag our knuckles into the 21st century, shall we?
Another guess, based on very little: Neil views CJ as better than Draymon, Grant, and Siakam, and won't trade for them if it means giving up CJ. Neil would trade him for Simmons. Philly GM doesn't want to trade Simmons for CJ, and views it as a move of last resort. Neil is taking the stance that we don't need to trade CJ, whether he believes this or not I don't know. Regardless, it acts like a bit of leverage. If this is correct, many of the conversations here are moot.
Why? Because he spoke truth to power? I have an all new respect for him for being candid and truthful.
Just because I disagree with you doesn't mean I don't understand... Not sure where you're getting that notion from... I have a different opinion. They BOTH just said Mgmt fucked up and you're still taking management's side...
and you liked when Draymond continually kept doing dirty shit in the playoffs while getting himself suspended in Game 5 of the finals in 16? he cost his team the title that year, no? wondering your thoughts on that kinda court demeanor given your stance on Ben...
My vote for Draymond is not that binary. I would like him, but it depends on who we give up to get him. While he's a winning player who you absolutely love to have on your team, he has to be surrounded by shooters/scorers. That system in GS is heavily optimized for his skillset, and playing next to a transcendent talent like Steph makes him look even better. The same is true on defense where he anchors it, but was still flanked by all nba caliber defenders in Klay/Iggy/KD. Even his performance this past month with Team USA (i feel) is getting overrated given the talent he had around him on both ends. Dame is a reasonable facsimile but isn't the kind of otherworldly shooter Steph is. Nor do we have the defenders that GS did. And it's questionable how many more years Green can contribute because he already has shown signs of slowing down with more injuries every year. I don't think a CJ-Draymond swap would improve us as much as people here would like to believe.
I'll say whatever the fuck I want about his psyche and won't give a shit how you feel about it... Jason kidd??? That's just wrong... Jason Kidd took 257 three pointers his rookie season making 70. Simmons is AFRAID to shoot and scared to go to the free throw line. HE IS SEEING A PSYCHOLOGIST... You really need to GTFO when you say people are using the equivalent of the R word...
He got suspended because he kept kicking steven adams in the groin. It was because he accumulated a bunch of flagrants through their playoff run, not that one isolated play with Lebron. It was justified. Doesn't really change my personal opinion on him, but you seem keen on judging players by how they act on the court. Was curious if that affected how you thought of Draymond because you seem hellbent on repeating over and over again how shitty a guy Ben is. Oh, and one other thing. Draymond is like the mouthpiece for Klutch, fyi. I know you used that to put Simmons down as well.
