Well yeah no shit I’m not comparing them as players. I don’t like anything about Meyers and don’t like Simmons. That’s what I compared. I don’t want to root for a guy - or count on a guy- like Ben Simmons.

I dont see how we can NOT do it.

    Dame

He will steer him in the right direction.

He is still a kid. I believe if it all works out, Dame has him staying here as long as Dame stays here.

Apparently team made sacrifices to play up to Ben's strengths. Embiid mentioned them it was signing Horford so Simmons get to play with a stretch 5 when he run the 2nd unit and also letting Butler go because keeping him would mean less touches for Ben. Even Embiid going out there to space the floor while he is a force in the paint and he doesn't really have to step outside was done for Ben to be better.
So Embiid worked on how to make Ben more comfortable, but Ben remained the same and he cannot even shoot after 4 years. It's not Giannis it's Simmons. They cannot really do exactly what he wants and I doubt he will find any team to do that for him. He has to make sacrifices as well. There is no perfect fit out there and certainly no team will try to make the perfect fit for Ben because as i said before he is not Giannis. Not worth to sacrifice more than what Philla did. And from what Embiid said they already sacrificed a lot.

Simmons and Giannis are obviously very different physically. What really struck a chord with me, was a psychological comparison I read. It goes beyond thin-skinned vs thick skinned. Giannis simply isn't afraid to try and fail. That makes it easier for him to adapt and evolve.

This was something I couldn't stand about Stotts. His attitude appeared to be that any change to his game-plan or rotation was an admission of error on his part. Better to stick to his guns and blame the players for not executing. In a moment of reflection, I wonder if that is part of the reason I don't value Simmons as much as many folks. As good as he is at some things, he is still fundamentally the same player he was as a rookie.

OK, profundity sucks. Just ignore me.

I don't think Morey likes CJ as much as he likes Lillard or other team's first options.

I think that's why we don't have Simmons yet. I think Morey is trying to call Simmons bluff.

Nba players almost all have a part of the body that is tender or can flare up... pretty ease to say it's a weakness they are working to strengthen or such.

By the standards of a rookie he was really impressive. I don't deny that. In their respective rookie seasons, Simmons was much better than Giannis. By their respective 5th seasons, was that still true? Will Simmons ever be as good as Giannis is now? That is my point.

I'm sure some will disagree, but I don't believe Giannis is better based on physical talent.

Ben Simmons led Sixers on 16 game win streak into first playoffs of The Process. And he beat out Donovan Mitchell for ROTY in the process. He wasn't just "good for a rookie."

Edit: you know what - just forget it. We literally have no common ground to base a discussion on.

Note we're not listed among the six teams "still inquiring" about Simmons... but Detroit is? Are they panicking about Cade Cunningham already?

Philly would ask for Saddiq Bey, but at this point I don't think Detroit would do that.

The relationship had run its course? (facepalms) Is that how modern players see their team/team-mates....some kind of one night stand? Successful interpersonal relationships require work!

I will now take my rocker out on the porch and yell at the clouds.

Yeah, this whole thing is so ugly. I'd still take a swing at Simmons, but his stock is lowering even in my eyes. I still blame Morey for being insanely stubborn.

The team is now a week into training camp, I think I'd rather see what the current roster can do.
