I'm good with them making this permanent. The testing should be for performance enhancing substances, and that should be very often and thorough. How many states is this even legal in now? Players have their own motivation to not overuse substances like marijuana, which is is similar to alcohol, or harmful like eating shitty food, let the players take care of themselves. I think the testing started after the jail blazers/Allen Iverson/ etc players era where there was a perception of many NBA athletes being poor role models. That isn't an issue at all now.
