trade CJ for someone that isnt a clone of dame without the pure PG skills. wonder if we are just playing a long game with simmons - eventually they'd take CJ right?
We are 30th IN turnovers, at 23.5 per game. Knicks are first at 11.3. Yes, it’s preseason. Yes we are playing a lot of injured lineups. Being being DEAD last in almost every category shows we have a LONG way to go. We are by far the worst showing team so far in preseason.
And the peculiar thing is this, my friends: The game they played on that fateful night: it didn't actually sound anything like this post. This is just a tribute! You gotta believe it! And I wish you were there! Just a matter of opinion.
Strange preseason with small sample size. Not exactly optimistic out the gate but I'm expecting a lot more when the reg hits.
...and as long as this team starts with Dame/CJ at the point of attack, they will never have the right defensive personnel. It is dramatically flawed from the start even if the scheme is improved.
I agree. Would have much rather seen a new GM than a new coach. But we really need a more committed owner if we're going to get a legit GM.
It went from dog shit to cow shit. As long as you have Dame/CJ together it’s always going to be shit. Simmons alone would fix our defensive woes.
I'm not arguing anything you said. If we have the exact same defensive rating running multiple schemes, I would expect is to have a little more success defensively in the playoffs because you have to be able to adjust to different stuff defensively. If we regress offensively in the regular season because were trying to mix things up, then it doesn't mean we won't have a better offense in the playoffs when we're harder to guard, gameplan, and adjust for in a 7-game series due to our unpredictability. And here's the thing, if we switch things up and finish with the same net rating, we'd probably be in a better spot headed into playoffs because I'd expect it's to struggle a bit early getting used to stuff and would have to make up ground later in the season to get back to a similar net rating as last year. I think the playoffs and regular season are noticeably different, so changing things to help us in the playoffs might not show improvement during the regular season. We could debate on whether this changes are a good thing or not but the point simply is that playing a more translatable style in the playoffs may not result any statistical improvements during the regular season.
Dame's looked very solid defensively this preseason. If he becomes a good defender in this system, do you still hold this belief?
What about undefeated teams that have played well. What do you tell their fan base and media? Could you imagine this place if we killed all preseason?
What? Are they undefeated? I haven't looked at any preseason standing or stats other than I've seen on here. Are you saying that's what the Kings fans are thinking? There has to be some sort of middle ground right? Can't to too hyped if the team is killing it or to down if they are shitting the bed. But people that completely blow off what a team does in preseason is purposely stirring shit up.
When a new coach arrives with a new defensive system, it’s fair to ask if it’s working, even in the preseason.
I'm also a little worried that since the Blazers are mostly an older team now; will they have the energy needed for this type of defense? Hopefully, since I think no one will play as many minutes as in the past, that they will find that energy.
