Cant stand Morey, but he doesnt have to0, in a panic trade him for closeout price. Again, its all drama on both sides but other GM's that like Ben's game and accomplishments know they wont get him by simply a low ball you've screwed the pouch offer.
So, he waits and knows more offers and increased offers will develop. Some team that values Ben as the missing piece (and if its a small market team) just might offer another star and some to have the ability to get him for at least 3 more years.
Many in here figured he would have been traded before the season even started because Philly should clear the air quickly and move on. I figured and still do believe it will take a couple months before teams start to panic and increase offers. Thats usually when all the big action can happen anyway and up to the deadline.

Every day Ben sits out and the Blazers defense looks good, this trade seems less and less like a decent/good thing for us.
Moreonn is gonna kick himself in the ass for not taking Cj when CJ makes the all star team this year….

    Dumbass…

I'd like to know if Simmons is working out offsite with a personal trainer, on his fitness and shooting?

me too. Never any tweets posted or anything a out working hard in the gym..

You would think it might be the best pr move for him to show his next team he is working on things and build a bit of confidence that he is worthy of trading for.

    is he pulling a cj?

Shouldn’t we pretty much be done for now with this whole conversation, at least as far as the Blazers go? Morey isn’t trading Simmons for CJ. That supposed deal has been discussed to death and, if it was going to happen, would have happened by now. Giving Morey his wet dream of Damian Lillard for Simmons would be monumentally stupid and isn’t going to happen. If Dame wants out, there are going to be better places for him to go than Philly and better returns for the Blazers than the offensively-challenged Simmons. Sure, the whole melodrama is fun to watch, but as far as relevance to the Blazers, it’s a boring discussion.

It’s also lowering his value, Morey has no choice but trade him and the entire league knows it

Ben Simmons with a broken jump shot averages only a few points less than CJ in their respective careers. But he also averages way more assists and is arguably the best one on one defender in the league. It's no wonder Blazers fans think he'd be a really good fit with all the duplication in skill set we have with CJ in Norm and Simons.

If you include assists, that is true. Not counting CJ's first 2 years (as he wasn't getting shots/minutes like he does now), collectively they both provide about 30 points a game (their own points + assists). It's the defense that makes a huge difference.

Doubt it, he's not known as a worker. Look at his shooting and skills, has he added anything to his game since his first seasons?

The guy has physical gifts, but those decline around age 27, so the clock is ticking.

If he plays and plays well without crying his value will go back up.

    Agreed.

Also I bet Neil is much less interested in doing the trade now, both because Simmons drama makes him look worse than months ago, CJ is looking great, and there is no camp/preseason to integrate Ben into the Blazers system.

Ben has value with the ball in his hands same as Westbrook. But his lack of gravity really hurts the rest of the team, as opposed to CJ gravity helping the rest of the team's offense when he doesn't have the ball.

If Ben was here it would hurt Dame's game, there wouldn't be the space for Dame to create or have a two man screen game with Nurk/Zeller/etc.

I was interested in acquiring Ben before the season, but it always had a ton of risk, and now with more current events has slit to a flat out bad idea.

No way he plays ever again for Philly at least not home games. Can you imagine how ugly Philly fans will get. Not going to happen

Yes, I don't see how he can play in Philly.

Which makes Morey's firm stance all the more perplexing. What is the goal Morey is trying to get by demanding Ben fully participate and play with the team?

Like the housing market when inventory is low a d there are buyers it drives the value up.
GM’s know he’s one if the best defenders in the league and a there aren’t many in the market.

Sure, I get why some folks think that the swap would be advantageous to the Blazers. That said, Morey's stated that he's not trading Simmons for less than a star player who he views as a difference-maker. He's said all of the trades proposed so far (CJ included) involve guys he sees as role players. Maybe Morey's position changes later, but for now at least, the CJ trade idea is dead.

my opinion he’s hoping a team gets desperate maybe someone like Brooklyn or us. Maybe a Harden eventually makes sense or Lillard gets frustrated with his scoring average drops 10 points and we struggle.

Still say defensively adding Simmons makes us top 3 defensive team and enough offense to make us contender with Ben. That said if we play better d like I’m seeing every other game maybe we aren’t that far away even with CJ.

With Ben I think it would mimic Billups Pistons team and I think that type of team could win championship again
