I've been helping coach a small high school football team, ~25 freshman-seniors, and as we go into our first week of practice for the playoffs it hit me that we have gone the whole regular season without a single case of covid. There have been a couple tests done, but that was it. We had one game cancelled due to health and safety protocols for the other team, and the volleyball team had 2 become infected, but nothing for our team. Just thought that was surprising and wanted to share.

Football is outside. Very low risk of spreading covid there. Especially if many of the players are vaccinated.

Sure, very low risk if that is the only thing happening. Add in film watching, locker rooms, buses, ect. It is surprising we didn't have any cases.

Two of the coaches are unvaccinated :NOTMARIS:

Baseball is an outdoor sport too, but if i recall, they were decimated to start the season.

Yeah, we have some unvaccinated coaches as well. But most of the players are vaccinated and we haven't had a case since most have been.

The last case we had on any of my 3 daughters teams was an unvaccinated player in July. One unvaccinated player we train with got it in August (she was only 11, so not eligible).

If most of the players are vaccinated you're very unlikely to have a problem. As much as 25x less likely...

It's a catholic school, so there may be many "religious exemptions".

Excellent point. In that case it might well be impressive...

If anything shut down because of one COVID case in the USA there would be mass protesting.

It was more of an eye roll at the thought of upcoming hysterics.

If you put all the bullshit aside there’d be nothing left. Not sure how people can still look around at the countries with the highest vaccination rates and still think mitigation of this virus is predicated on the consumption of a vaccine that has already been widely distributed. It’s clearly not going anywhere. If you think the vaccine is going to lessen your symptoms then get it, absolutely. But the virus isn’t going anywhere.

I’m sure chemical fertilizers are so much better. Wonder who funded this study?

If you read the link, they are trying to find ways to make better cows and better cowshit. Not replace them with chemicals.
